Leaks? Where? DM me please
Of they win the bid, sure.
Personally, I would not like for WB to win it. That deal that Prince cut with WB was for his own benefit more that it was WB's. WB figured they would make money on all new Prince releases, plus they would press the back catalog into the millions.
To WB's credit, what...it was a gesture in good faith? Prince turned around and distributed new music through Tidal and Universal.
Why only '83-'95, though?
He made his best music in this era, in my opinion offcourse. I'm looking forward the most to concert recordings (Cobo Hall, Le Zenith ('86), Paard van Troje) and the outtakes from the same period (Open Book, Crucial sax version).
Damn it's good.
I know, I know, it's "Wally", and by any rational standard it can't possibly measure up to its hype. It's not THE GREATEST SONG IN THE HISTORY OF MANKIND or even close. But it's truly wonderful. It's pure Prince genius. I really enjoy it, for all of its weirdness. I saw it written elsewhere to imagine the mythical original "Wally" by viewing this leaked version like the subsequently-released less impressive "Old Friends 4 Sale" and the original "Wally" like, well, the original "Old Friends".
Wouldn't that be something.
I, too, think "Wally" is amazing, because I can only imagine it with great SQ.
It's so quirky and well thought out.
If the earlier version is in the vaults, then we'll hear it. Eventually.
It's kind of creepy when I get a message from YouTube that "Prince just uploaded a video."
I wish it was true.
17 Famous People Who Died Without A Will
and the two new bootleg box sets have leaked, Blast From The Past 4.0 and 5.0
some terrific stuff on there, will be a lot of work to compare versions,
but I'm willing 2 do the work
The 12" vinyl b-side has the 10 minute version and you should check it out even just for the amazing bass solo (that is not on the recently leaked demo). Highly recommended.
Thanks for the tip. I am always in the market for a good bass solo, and Prince's bass solos were always goooooood.
It's most likely run by his estate.
How do I get these albums?
Rare Prince Concert Film 'Sign o' the Times' to Air on Showtime
Hopefully this is a good sign that a legit, decent home video release isn't too far behind.
With Twin Peaks ending the week before, I now have a reason to keep my Showtime subscription for a little longer!
I hope the broadcast doesn't mean the market will be flooded with bootleg copies . I enjoy my Japanese Blu Ray of this film to be sure !
I'd like to record this to keep, but Showtime will probably stick their logo and promos for their programming on the screen.
Prince4Ever to be released as vinyl box set (four albums) on 15 September.
Nice! Never seen this film but have heard good things about it and love the album of course.
Yes it's my fav album by Prince so this is a great opportunity to see the show.
"Sign" the movie is absolutely brilliant.
Prince: Sign O' The Times (1987)
They didn't say it had never been released on DVD. They said it had been released on DVD.
Whoops - I thought the link was to a Billboard article that claimed it'd never been on DVD period.
That'll teach me not to assume!
Edited original post so I can deny my stupidity!
Damn, I still can't believe it.....who would have thought that by 2017, Prince, Michael Jackson, George Michael and Whitney Houston would all be dead...well before their time....unbelievable. Prince at his best..was just about as good as it gets...a peer of Marvin Gaye, Stevie Wonder, Curtis Mayfield etc. at their... nothing really to add.....just wow...as I continue listening to his brilliant legacy...
Hope it'll be on the Showtime extension of Hulu as well.
Good call. I hope so, too.
Maybe this is something for all of you to participate in: Future releases from the estate Survey
I don't remember where I got the link from, probably something on Facebook, but I think it originates from the "org".
