I love Lovesexy. Kinda the dividing line in Prince's career.
I'm not crazy about The Black Album, but Le Grind and Cindy C are essential.

    As does the Mini-LP.

Most Discogs entries state which version has the tracks split or not.

weren't just the promo versions the only ones with the split tracks?

i don't think it was ever made available retail domestically.........the european version however always had the split tracks....i think!

My UK version was one track. Always found it frustrating but I guess that was how he wanted it.

The promo cd has seperate tracks, but they used fade-in and fade-out to seperate the songs. So, this is a unique version of the cd.
Initially, all retail versions were 1 track. It took years before there were tracked Lovesexy cd's.

I think Discogs references to the early CD versions set out which version is which, as far as I recall. I picked up a nice near mint vinyl copy for a few £ a couple of weeks ago. Nice.

I enjoy Batman but it's his first dip in 10 years and a portent of the mediocrity to COME.

I would say the Gold Experience arguably equals Lovesexy but not quite.

I don't like the end otherwise it's the only tune on Emancipation that grabbed me. Someone else thought enough of it to make it the second single from the triple album- I see on Wikipedia. It wasn't successful but i think everything that has followed is gobbledygook.

I extended my Lovesexy with '88 era songs... an exciting year for Prince!

The main reason it tanked is because like usual, Prince gave up on it. There were some pretty decent remixes done for a planned single, that were never released.

Also, the one title I would say is undeniably a masterpiece on this album is The Love We Make.

Do you listen to the whole thing or have you trimmed it down to a single album?

I don't listen to it as an album (abridged or the full 3 discs). I don't have the attention span, nor the tolerance.

He couldn't figure out how to end it but I think it's a sincere account of his religious conversion and decision to get married (both big moves) (he stopped singing the naughty parts to his old songs at this point)--- and subsequently he hasn't been able to write anything as compelling. I'll have to check out The Love We Make.
