Just as long as that Purple Rain mega-box comes out fairly soon - and maybe release some more stuff from the vaults - he can do whatever he wants on Twitter or Facebook.

Dunno about his Twitter account, but on Facebook he was mainly posting selfies put through every single Photoshop filter, so it's no big loss at all.

Was that his 'crystal' ball? That usually cracked when we tried to play catch....

Yeah, any crystal ball that makes one predict that the Internet is over is even more useless than usual.

I'm glad you linked to the nuanced, bemused Star Tribune story that covered this, because it completely lacks the ridiculous tsk-tsk censoriousness and mean gossipy hostility of this thread. But thanks for the inspiration to go play some brilliant, beautiful Prince music.

I used to like his music, but his behavior has completely soured me on it.

He's so out of touch with reality.

  12. Is he upset because he recently released two extremely mediocre albums ?

The Daily Mirror interview that I linked to made it clear that he has the same relationship to the real world that Howard Hughes had in his last years. Granted, Prince has more style than to wear Kleenex boxes on his feet, but the effect is pretty much the same.

Perhaps one of the Gorts deleted too many of his posts. Lots of members here go into melt down and take a sabbatical when that happens. :realmad:

Most come back after a bit. ;)

    Just sayin'

Of course you do realize that there is no way that this can be discussed here without breaking rules about taboo subjects. This isn't some wacky behavior based on some personal quirk. I would bet that it is a political statement tied to some very serious issues in the news lately. I don't think the 2010 issue has any relevance.

Hey, if Prince decides to stage the next Wattstax for the people of Ferguson, great! But as the goober decided to delete the principal avenues of communicating with young people these days, I'd say that is not even a little bit likely.

I think his talent, and his legacy, will survive the deletion of his twitter account and facebook page. And interested parties will still be able to find his shows and get ahold of the music he releases.

It's hard to believe that any adults in 2014 care about Prince.

Are you serious? He sold out a 10,000+ seat arena near me for 3 consecutive nights last year..

Can he please give us back Donna Grantis?
We miss her here as the musical director of the annual Women's Blues Revue.

I saw Prince here a few years ago at an arena and he really wasn't all that great.
He's a nostalgia act at best.
His new music is weak and he's a horse's ass to boot.
I'll admit he's a great guitar player but overall it's not enough anymore....

Hmmm, considering that I could care less about anything to do with Prince, or whatever moniker he is going by today, my life will go on completely unaltered.
