In for everything unreleased. It's a logical step to include a liveshow from that run, but it seems a bit Shelby-heavy. Not letting that ruin the anticipation though!
Very excited for this, listening to a lot of Prince from around this era lately. Always reminded though that I didn't bother to go see him in Dublin when he played and haunts me regularly.
I clicked the link from the official Prince site and I only saw the Blu-ray in the $100 deluxe edition...
30th July seems a long way off. I just heard the title song. Has a p funk vibe. I need to listen to it a couple more times before I pass judgement.
His political/social commentary stuff generally hasn’t been my favorite, but this is a welcome surprise nonetheless. I like the production on the title track, even if the message seems a bit muddled or hollow.
Did he recorded a lot of concerts on video? I never heard or imagined that he recorded on video this Forum concert.
So $60 extra to get the blu-ray live show? Maybe it’ll come down in price, but I miss WB controlling the vault releases already.... Any mastering details?
Yeah unfortunately. I don't get those deluxe sets that have both CD and vinyl ... I wanna chose for myself (same with some of The Doors' anniversary sets, no interest). A CD/Blue Ray set would be great but I don't need this deluxe one. The title track sounds interesting though...
Not the best show, but one I was at. I went to 11 of the 15 shows he did at the forum that year. I remember it well because it was the only one he did 17 days at. It was a very empty crowd. I remember that too. he did the last song like 30 minutes after leaving the stage. There was hardly anyone left in the crowd to witness it. It was a very special moment.
Will get the CD, no interest in over-priced vinyl I'll never play being forced on me just to get a blu-ray. Wish companies wouldn't do this.
Ah the editions look very reasonable, $29.98 * for a double album... . . . ....oh wait, HOW MUCH FOR THE ONE WITH THE BLU-RAY IN IT EDIT - * Just seen it only has 3 sides of music - I thought it was too good to be true.
Not sure I can take 3 1/2 months of @englishbob griping about the price of a deluxe Prince box set.... which, based on the SOTT Deluxe thread, will probably be a daily (if not hourly) occurrence.
This is what I've been waiting for! An unreleased modern album, where Prince usually put his best lyrical and musical statements, on the unreleased stuff! I'm big happy! This will show people that P was still on top of his game, knowing what I know about this album. Now, the only question, will it be a hot master or more in line with what's been coming out? I'll test the YouTube audio when I get the chance, because the DR values always match what gets released.
Well, twelve Prince songs is probably an hour-plus, so it could have been stretched to four vinyl sides. , This always seems to be a pretty arbitrary decision.
