The year was 2012 (already?!) and this was the announcement of the performance:
Queen to perform at Sonisphere Festival

    ...and this was the cancellation:
    Sonisphere 2012 festival is cancelled

The Queen Anthologies are being held hostage for 20 years now and I can't see them being released at any point in the future now. Not as long our boys are alive, at least.

The Highlander soundtrack was a great idea, but unless there's a sudden re-interest in the movie, it won't be released either. Ever. Shame.

I'm a quasi-completest. I own the CD (+-20 years) but will not bother purchasing any further copy on any media.

Pleased for you but, to me, having been at Live Aid, Wembley and Knebworth it didn't represent Queen as properly as it should have done given the scale of The Magic Tour and the profile Queen had at the time. It felt (and WAS) rushed out to cash in on the Christmas market with little to no thought, given that Wembley had been aired on Channel 4 that year and there were plenty of recordings from which QPL could choose to put out a truly representative document.

A harbinger of the disasters to come.

Jesus Christ. Can you do a quick review/recall of the three concerts? Which one did you like the most? And the least?

Live Aid - without a doubt. Against some utter GIANTS of the industry, Queen captivated EVERYONE. Was off to stage right in the stand and the number of people watching from the side of the stage was a great indication of their power that day. Freddie just had everyone in the palm of his hand. Sadly, this upcoming movie will turn that performance in to a bit of a joke - absolutely no need to have anyone pretending to be the band that day when there is complete access to the real thing.

Knebworth was too big - just a tiring day all 'round with some pretty ordinary support in all honesty. The set list being a mirror image of Wembley didn't inspire and the steady breeze kept dragging the sound away.

Wembley - crap seats right at the back of the stadium.

So by your account, Live Aid was the show to beat. Too bad it was just 20 mins. So which of the two '86 shows do you have a better appreciation for?

It's great after all these years that, you never hear about Live Aid without Queen being mentioned as show stealers.

If pushed probably Wembley because I hated the interminable wait for the headline act at Knebworth and the sound was fuller and meatier, but the '86 shows weren't particularly inspiring set-wise for me, so the thrill of Live Aid and Queen (Freddie) creating such a buzz is a memory that I'll never forget.

As the first gig I ever went to, aged 14, I'd have to say Knebworth was amazing. Didn't mind the support, though I was only into Quo. It was huge though. I'd only really heard Magic & Works so I wasn't put out by the set list. Dude stood next to us offered to put me on his shoulders. For about an hour! Couldn't get out the site afterwards. Had to sleep in the car. Three of us in a Mini. Old sort, not one of those new monstrosities! Still one of the best days I've had.

It’s been a while since I’ve been lambasted on this thread so here’s another opinion. I’m still quite happy with the pressings in my box and I’ve even done a little comparison several times. I have an original UK Sheer Heart Attack here:

Inner sleeve with two cut corners (not rounded)
    TML-M
    Side 1: YAX-4881-4U
    Side 2: YAX-4882-4u
It sounds very good and I don’t blame anyone for preferring/recommending it. It’s very cool to have an original UK pressing of this album. The laminated cover is a nice touch.

Now here’s my slight contradiction. When I put on the beautiful translucent red, flat, silent vinyl from the box I don’t notice the dramatic drop off in sound quality that’s been alluded to. It’s a bit different to be sure. I can understand some preferring the UK but this pressing is a fun listen as well IMO. Not what I would consider crap at all and I’m guessing it would certainly suffice for many if not most. I’m not among those who consider this Queen box a fail (for whatever that’s worth).

I have first US pressing, nice sounding record. Does this one use the same stampers as UK original pressing? Dunno. I read that the remaster was very good...but now...
