Quicksilver Messenger Service - Happy Trails

Any comments on this title? I've no QMS but am interested in the band, and this album.
I've come across the Eroc remaster and thought it might be a good place to start.

Listen to it on headphones too. Their first three albums are their best.

 

It's a great album - their version of Who do you love is a masterpiece, at least to my stoned ears in the 60's.

Great album from the beautiful West Coast rock and roll scene of the late '60s.

 

Be certain to get the discs released in June 2012 by Culture Factory. Sound quality if stunning.

A great version of a must have album

 

Not only my QMS favorite album but one of my favorite albums of all time.

 

The Cippolina/Duncan guitar attack on this album is some of the best ever recorded, anywhere, and "Who Do You Love" is transcendent. You must own this album.

 

Makes me want to go out and get another copy but hell I think I will just put it on and listen and enjoy instead.

 

No record collection is complete without Happy Trails.

Even if just for Cipollina's wah-wah animal guitar string scrape growl in "The Fool".
Best use of a wah-wah pedal EVER !!

Interesting. I adore this LP, as many others of course. Apart of the 80s LP reissue (that I played to death in the 80s), the only digital release I have and heard is the japanese mini-lp of some years ago and I had no problem with it. I should go for Rep as well. Thanks.

 

(And make sure you get the FIRST album and "Shady Grove" while you're at it -- you can't miss with either of those, either!)

 

i never got to see this lineup but i did have the pleasure of getting to know john cipollina much later. even had the chance to play with him once which was amazing.
