He was with Priest during the classic period and his style "got the job done".

It's beyond me that people are mentionning Screaming For Vengeance when this guy was at the top of his game 10 years before.

Great, groove drummer. His work with Trapeze and with Judas Priest was good stuff.

I really liked his drumming on the classic era of JP, effective drum work.

If it is indeed true... RIP Dave Holland.

He is listed as deceased on Wikipedia.

It says his death was originally thought to be a hoax because people confused him with jazz bass player Dave Holland.

Some were initially reporting that it was a hoax due to confusion with a jazz musician who shares his name, but a Spanish newspaper, El Progreso, has revealed that Holland died at the Hospital Universitario Lucus Augusti in Lugo, Spain. Taste’s management has also confirmed Holland’s passing, and he has supposedly already been cremated.

Top drummer. Those Priest albums are excellent, some of their best really.

  18. Trapeze was a home-town band for me and I saw them many times in small clubs and venues in the early and mid 70s.

Mel Galley was a terrific guitarist, who worked with many others, including some unheralded work with the Blue Jays and who sadly died a number of years back.

Glen Hughes is still - miraculously - with us.

And now Dave has passed - regardless of his more recent 'history' he leaves behind family and friends, to whom condolences are due.

That his 'history' should appeal to the prurient interest of some is unfortunate.

He was a convicted of a criminal offence, of which he always maintained his innocence. This may - or may not - be the case.

RIP Dave - whatever path your later life took, your joyous music-making as a young man with Trapeze gave me many happy times in my younger days.

    Best Wishes,
    David

What he did with Desert Plains was perfect for the song. Outstanding beat with effective overdubbed thunderous fills. RIP.

    Rest easy, Mr. Holland.

I hope that he was telling the truth about being framed.

Priest never had a definitive drummer, but British Steel and Screaming For Vengeance are essential. The highlights of his resume.

No ambiguity there. For Gary Glitter and Roy Estrada, it will be good riddance.

For those who believe in the just-world hypothesis, Dave Holland belongs in the same category since he was convicted. The rest of us just hope he didn't do it since we don't really know. (In fact, we don't really know what "it" is. Probably one of the better things about the British justice system.)
