R.I.P David Bowie: 8th January 1947 - 10th January 2016

Bowie's official Facebook page and Twitter feeds have just posted that the legendary singer songwriter has passed away at the age of 69 after "a courageous 18 month battle with cancer."

I'm not seeing confirmation of this anywhere else in the press (yet), so I suppose it's possible this is just a hoax, but if so they had to get access to both of his official social media accounts.

It's the middle of the night here in the US. Has this hit the broadcast media in the UK yet?

it could be that the FB account was hacked. if either Twitter or FB is hacked, they're usually linked up to post the same thing. still holding out hope...

I saw this on his Facebook and Twitter about 20 minutes ago. I believe it's a hoax. These news articles are just falling for it.

There's nothing on his official website.

Seems to be true, unfortunately.

 

Is true, just come up on Sky news in the past few minutes, it hadn't broke when I turned on about 15 minutes ago. Not sure if it was known in some circles he had been ill (says he has been battling cancer for 18 months) but total shock to most I imagine.
