They searched for the Original Masters for more than 10 years before they found them located in Norway. The new tape transfer was done by the National library in Mo i Rana, Norway, using the exactly same tape machine as the music was recorded to; a Telefunken Mx-80. The machine had to be repaired for the transfer. But most challenging was to get the machine operating at correct speed. Original it had a 50,4 kHz sampling rate. But after the recording of "Fairytale" was done, the machine was shipped to Japan for modify it to the new 48kHz studio standard for recording. But the master tapes for "Fairytales" had to be played back at 50,4kHz. But by operating it by two engineers when played back the tape, they got the correct sampling rate by skillful tricks.

Arild Andersen says the new mastering sounds significant better with spacious sound, subtle details, better textures and depth in the sound picture. More like he remembered it sounded when they recorded the album.

Is the LP digitally sourced, i.e. from the hi-res file?

Yes. But I can tell you that hi-res file must be extremely good, based on listening to this CD.

But how the good the LP pressing is, I don't know. Have not seen any reviews yet.

The team behind the restoration of the tape machine and transfer from Master tapes to 24/192 has done a marvelous job!

There is no compression done in the mastering, but a small amount of digital limiting. That's because the Producer of the re-issue wanted it. But there is plenty of dynamics!

The CD is produced by Sony DADC and it is a perfect jitter free pressing.

Truly one of the great jazz vocalists - should be more well-known!
Essential listening for everyone interested in (Scandinavian) jazz of the 1970´s/1980´s. :righton:

Unfortunately she only made 3 albums:
    Winter Poem (1977)
    It Don´t Come Easy (1979)
    Fairytales (1982) Duo w/Steve Dobrogosz

There´s also two excellent, posthumous live albums:
Live In Hamburg (1993, recorded 1981)
    Butterfly (2008, recorded 1976-1982)

Plus the superb "best of" Some Time Ago - A Collection Of Her Finest Moments (2003, recorded 1977-1982).
The best starting point - but after you´ve heard this, it´s likely you´ll want them all... :D

Elusive Disc has some copies left. Note that the LP is a digital remaster, not an analogue remastering.
