I'm a big fan of the first Captain America movie and the first Iron Man movie, each of which got everything right. And Guardians of the Galaxy was a big surprise for me, because I had very low expectations. All three are excellent films that hold up well.

Iron Man 3 is the best of the bunch, in my opinion, and the only MCU film I would rank as very good. I enjoyed both Guardians of the Galaxy movies for their humor. The rest are okay to not very good.

Captain America surprised me as a franchise because his movies just kept getting better. I loved the first Cap movie but felt there was more to be critical of in that first one, but Winter Soldier and Civil War just kicked him into orbit.

Similarly, and differently, I love all three Iron Man movies but it's the first one that is the stone classic of the bunch.

The Avengers (1st movie) is my gold standard for MCU. After that, all other movies in the franchise have to live up to it. Most of them have done pretty well.

I was most disappointed in Spider-man: Homecoming. I just like my Spider-man to be a bit more precocious. This guy's a bit too teenage. But that means he has somewhere to go of course.

I withhold judgment on Infinity War until I see the next movie. Second time viewing it, I found it was an unexpectedly emotional movie for me, mostly because I knew of the devastation that was coming. But there still was a lot of "Why the hell did ya do that?" moments and I hate those. And if I can pick up on them, they're painfully obvious. I'm pretty forgiving with movies.

Age Of Ultron has some priceless moments but I can't get over the fact that Tony Stark causes a HELL of a lot of problems for planet Earth!

There's more that I have seen but I can't think of any pithy things to say about them at the moment.

I watched Ant Man and Wasp two more times this week, now with my daughter, and we both really enjoy it. I think I'd bump it up three or four spots.

I thought Thor Ragnarök was awful. Complete lack of understanding of the characters. A cheap shot, in fact. Of those I've seen, I particularly enjoyed Iron Man and Winter Soldier. Quite liked Ant Man too, though I think I prefer the first Tobey Maguire Spider-Man to all of them.

I loved the first Iron Man - inspired casting (hard to imagine today, but the studio thought Robert Downey, Jr. was a risky choice as Tony Stark) and a story that was a refreshing change of pace from the usual superhero fare. Unlike Batman or Spider-Man, being Iron Man gives Tony Stark moral clarity and a sense of purpose.

Thor: Ragnarok was entertaining as hell. I didn't think anyone in the MCU was interested in making fun movies anymore - and the third Thor movie was a nice surprise, especially as I was watching it with my 7-year old son (...because I also didn't think anyone was interested in making superhero movies for 7-year olds, either). Whatever Marvel paid Led Zeppelin to use "The Immigrant Song" was worth every damn penny, too.

Spider-Man: Homecoming was another nice surprise. The rescue at the Washington Monument reminded me of the giddy charm and thrills of Richard Donner's Superman. Michael Keaton's also a plus as a bad guy who's no omnipotent god, pissed off alien, or sarcastic robot - he's just a dude pulling off a good scam. Great - and appropriate - cameo by Captain America too!

Strange how the post credit Spidey scene was basically a scene from the film.
The credits scene usually represent something for the next MCU film.

He was the best thing in the film. His McDonald movie was even better.
