Album is a 7/10 and a letdown from the double whammy of Rubber Soul and Revolver. All songs score a 7/10 except Getting Better and Day In The Life which both score 9/10 and Within You Without you which clocks in with a 0.

I agree with your sentiment about Sgt Pepper's. It's a good album but it's not everything some people seem to think it is.

I think part of Pepper being so adored is because it was the first American Beatles album to not be altered by Capitol, and as such, it’s impact was greater.

nah, IMO most of the first generation US fans did not know of the UK albums as they weren't for sale at the time or care...Capitol had nothing to do with the love for this album other than releasing it...

I don't dislike the remix but I never listen to it. Whenever i want to hear Sgt Pepper's I reach for the mono CD. I prefer that to all the others.

I'm not really into mono at all. But I find Sgt Pepper's to be a completely different experience in mono than in stereo, but I like the stereo version just fine too.

I'm using the whole 1 to 10 scale, where 5 doesn't mean terrible, but average; statistically, I assume that the average song is a 5, not a 7 like most reviewers do.

I've changed my mind since then. My ratings are still pretty close. I just don't think it's the best album of all time, however, as a whole, it is a very very good album.

    Sgt. Pepper-The Album: 12/10

I was 10 when released. It still moves me today in profound ways. The songs mesh as an album/project/concept, and are so compelling individually as well. The album art, and whole package created by 4 supremely talented young men in their 20's shepherded by Mr. Martin.... Looked at it in that context, given the technology available to them then...we cannot be anything but amazed beyond belief.

As a 10-year old living away from a large city yet yearning to, the song Good Morning, Good Morning communicated the frantic and fun pace of life in the busy city of London... "Go to a show...you hope she goes..", and wishing beyond all reason I was there.....

This appears to be a Marmite song. For what it's worth, I'm with Joe on this one. I wouldn't have thought so when the album was first released but, with the benefit of hindsight, it's an absolutely brilliant track. George came up with something just as original as Paul and John's best work.

Great than the sum of its parts, and the parts are pretty great. Some of those tracks, in the pantheon of music I love, deserve and 11 or 12 out of 10.

True story: I was recently working in Culver City, and took a little overnight trip to San Diego and drove back up the Pacific Coast Highway on an absolutely drop-dead gorgeous day. A few minutes into the drive, I thought, "Wow, you know what would really make this day perfect? Sgt. Pepper on the car stereo! Popped into Lou's Records in Encinitas, grabbed a used CD of Pepper, and was happy as a pig in slop the rest of the trip. Played it all the way through.

When I was a kid I couldn't stand the song but now I enjoy it. It's far from being my favorite George song but I definitely like it a lot more now that I'm older.

Apparently a lot of people like it but I didn't like it when I was a kid and I still don't. I think it might be a good song for a hippie funeral but little else. "It's All Too Much" would have been so much better on Sergeant Pepper and would have fit the vibe better.
