Interesting. Thanks for putting this on my radar. I like Ray and respect the fact that he tries different things out. I love his first record Trouble and Ouroboros, but there is good stuff on all of his records. I wonder what kind of flavor he will be going for on this record. I read the attached press release but it didn't seem to contain any clues.

I was curious about the music too -- it's strange there's a press release for the tour, with only the vaguest of mentions about the new album. I guess the music is secondary to touring except to old geezers like me LOL

I was genuinely surprised to read that he was on his 7th album......I loved Gossip in the Grain, and then lost track following him.....I will have to look out for the new album.

His last record, Ouroboros, is really worth hearing. It sounds like an Americana Pink Floyd album. Really different from his early stuff, but cool.

One of the releases I'm most interested in this year. Can't wait to see him at the Greek Theatre in Los Angeles this summer.

To me, the perfect LaMontagne song. High hopes for the new album.

Shame that tour isn't coming north to Montana. they'd probably find a good audience here.

Has anyone found any info about the length of the new album? I'm just curious, because according to the tracklisting over at RYM, there are only 9 songs...which seems like it would make a pretty short album, unless some of the tracks are longer than usual. (His previous album Ouroborus only had 8 songs, but some of the tracks were long enough that the album still clocked in at almost 40 minutes).

Nobody's talking about this yet? I'm on my third listen and it gets better each time. It's kind of a hybrid of the last two (Supernova & Ouroboros).

Just finished my first listen... I feel like it'll be a grower. Finishes strong with the last three tracks.

    Yeah, it's terrific.

I got tickets to see him in Boston ($20/each all-in from that LiveNation deal the other week). I'm psyched.

"To the Sea" starts off as a Nick Drake song.
The bass and melody of "Let's Make it Last" are nicked from The Beatles "Something"
There's some Elton John, Black Sabbath, Pink Floyd....

My thoughts, too, after a cursory listen while walking the dog this A.M. Looking forward to sitting down and listening a little more attentively w/ the LP once it arrives.

Apparently Bo and Carl from My Morning Jacket also played on this (4/5 of MMJ played on Ouroboros). Excited to hear it.
