Some albums are so great that terrific songs get lost among the classics. My nomination for such a song would be "Something About You" on Boston's first (S/T). I used to stop after "Hitch A Ride"---what a stretch from the opener to that one!---and I ignored the rest, for the most part. Tonight I heard "Something About You" and thought, wow, how did I miss that one? It may not be great but...it's damn good!

Any other "really good songs" on great albums that finally show up on your radar?

I always thought Never Before was one of Deep Purple’s best songs since I got to know it through the 24 Carat Purple-compilation.
It’s also one of the highlights for me on Machine Head.
I don’t think I’ve ever read something positive about it. ‘A failed single’ is about as positive as it gets, as far as I know.

I used to wonder why shadow of a doubt was not biggest thing on there. It was my new Listen to her heart , I loved it. It gave me hope. Alas I checked out on tom after this

Interesting. I've always thought of Refugee as the BIG hit and probably TP's signature tune .... even though I don't particularly care for it.

All Jefferson Airplane albums have great songs that aren't at the front. Even a slight song like My Best Friend off Surrealistic Pillow is really good. And that's probably the worst song on the album !

'Meeting Across the River' on Born to Run was my first thought. Great little song tucked away on side two.

I always wondered why Guns n' Roses never released "Think About You" as a single. A great song on Appetite for Destruction.

    "Different Strings" on Permanent Waves

Just Good Friends is a pretty good song with sugary 80s synths and a Stevie Wonder guest appearance...that is the only song from Bad not to have any form of single release, so I imagine, very overlooked.

This seems to be the least known song on the album, although even this one was played on the local aor station when I was a kid, so I've always "known" it. I think it's fantastic. It has a proto pop-grunge quality (like Weezer, but with even better songwriting and sterling production/engineering) thanks to the fast pace, bubblegum hooks, and wall of guitars. A bit ahead of its time I think! More great overlooked songs on the second album... "Used to Bad News" & "Don't Be Afraid" don't seem to be on anyone's radar but they are 10/10 Boston sugarrush for me!!!

"Get it Right the First Time" from The Stranger pops into my mind first. Great track that got buried in an album of pretty much all greatest hits.

    "Cry Baby Cry"
Buried on side 4 on THE BEATLES among lesser lights like the slow version of "Revolution", Paul's old fashioned "Honey Pie", George's pure filler "Savoy Truffle", the interminably long and pretentious "Revolution #9" and Ringo's lullaby.
