While I couldn't find a YouTube of it, I have an CD called, "The Wide Weird World Of Henry Jacobs"!
Like "Lumpy Gravy", it's nice and weird!

If IIRC, on the back of the sleeve it said it was recorded live from BBC Radio broadcast...go figure. :wtf:

There’s a huge genre of Noise Music that follows in these footsteps. Check out Merzbow; they (mostly one man) have released hundreds of albums of electronic harsh noise, including one 50CD box set!!

Lee Ranaldo of Sonic Youth put out a noise ep called From Here To Infinity. The next to last track was an etching rather than a song. I met him after a show and told him I played it. He asked what it sounded like and I did my best impression of a needle going over an etching. He thought it was funny.

Good one, and it almost was weirder...the initial idea was to issue to album on 7" discs, packaged in
a tin can resembling a tuna fish can.

I, for one, am dying to know how Melanie's garden's "magic" smells--correction, smelled.

Most of the mainstream music that people seem to love seems weird to me.

I was surprised to learn that John Fahey was a Merzbow fan. Of course this was during Fahey's late period where he was doing experimental albums with electric guitar... which I still have yet to check out,

When I first bought that LP in the 90s, I was also convinced it contained some "hidden track". I tried my best to slowly navigate the needle through the etching, but of course it just sounded like "krkstkrxtstskrzxlkstrlkzx!"

Lots of interesting weirdness on the ESP label. The Fugs, Godz, Cromagnon, Albert Ayler, Patty Waters, Sonny Simmons, even Charles Manson.

The National Lampoon Stereo Test and Demonstration Record...featuring, amongst others, Bill Murry, John Belushi, and other luminaries of the National Lampoon Radio Hour.

And yest, it was, while being a satire on a stereo test and demonstration record...it was an actual stereo test and demonstration record (not a great one, but...)!

Jandek - Ready For the House (1978)

The circumstances surrounding this album are even weirder than the music itself. No one knew who Jandek was, nor did anyone know when or where this album was recorded. The only way to get a copy was to write to a PO box in Houston, Texas that was rented to a company called Corwood Industries. No one knew anything about that either. Naturally, people came up with all sorts of theories about who Jandek was and how this album (and the dozens of albums that came after it over the next few decades) came to be. My personal favorite is that it was recorded during a musical therapy session in a Houston area mental hospital. To this day, no one knows for sure. Jandek has made a handful of public appearances, but he's so intensely private that nothing about him, including his real name, can be stated with absolute certainty.
