Seen it and absolutely loved it. Probably the most original take on the vampire genre.

The Maze (1953). Not so much horrifying as mirthful.

    Irreversible.

Have you seen any Black Mirror (TV though)? Many of the episodes have some skin-crawling premise that is only revealed at the end.

These are what I've watched recently via Netflix:

    La Mante (French)
    Bordertown (Finnish)
Borderliner (think this is Norwegian, can't remember now)
Dark (German) this is very twisted and complicated but highly rewarding.
    The Sinner (English)
Bloodline (English) this is brilliant, especially the first season.

I watched these via Sky in the UK:

    Midnight Sun (French-Swedish)
    100 Code (Swedish-English)
    Public Enemy (Belgian)

There is also a French series called Spiral (Engrenages) which is excellent.

I strongly recommend watching the original and skipping the U.S. remake, which could serve as a parody for what American pop culture does wrong. That said watching them in succession does make for an interesting comparison. Or you could watch them in reverse order of release (U.S. then Dutch, which I think is what my friend and I did) -- you'll be in for quite a shock.

"Tell No One" (2006) is a terrific thriller about a secret, though perhaps not quite "dark" and "horrifying" as others mentioned.

Rememory (watched this as it has Peter Dinklage in the lead and it's very good)

Will post some more later, have seen a lot of good stuff since my last post here.

Michael Haneke is particularly good at these. Check out his imdb page, especially Funny Games, Benny’s Video, Hidden, 71 Fragments Of A Chronology Of Chance and The Seventh Continent.
