I like/love some of the shows mentioned (e.g. Peaky Blinders, Breaking Bad, Better Call Saul, Fargo, etc).
A few that I don't think were recommended yet:
The Knick- set in early 20th century New York metro 'public' hospital, Clive Owen plays the drug addicted chief surgeon. Great cast, writing, sets. Wonderful.
Banshee- a dude gets out of prison to hook up with his ex-girlfriend in small town Pennsylvania. The Russian mob is chasing him (more to this as the story unfolds). Through a series of mishaps in the first episode, he becomes the town sheriff (who was coming in to replace the last one). You've got your Russian mobsters, biker gang meth heads, local Amish mafia, hot sex, native American gang bangers and the usual assortment of crazy. It is non stop action.
Strike Back- British special forces on dark ops, going on targeted kill missions against weapons dealers, terrorists, etc. Lot's of black humor in between killing sprees- the American, who is a smirking idiot, and his buddy, the stiff upper lip British by the book soldier, are a great team (and in real life are opposite in country of origin of who they play). It starts with season 2 in the US and you can then watch the British season 1 with an entirely different cast. Non-stop action of the military thriller variety.
Ray Donovan is sort of the LA version of The Sopranos- a fixer for the rich and famous of "Hollywood," he and his family are in an endless torrent of ****, lot's of darkly humorous moments and some great cameo appearance.
I will say Peaky Blinders blew me away- sort of the other side of Downton Abbey- Manchester crime family, with gypsy roots, expands their territory and all hell breaks loose. Great cast, writing, sets, etc.

Don't let any Lost (fans, non) forum members dissuade you. Watch it, disappear for a couple of weeks Lost, then submerge. :)

AXS TV has started showing the Ronnie Wood show. His first guest was Paul McCartney and it was fantastic. They are a few years old.

These are not new TV series but are all well worth finding:

    Utopia (The English one)
Charlie Jade (From South Africa of all places)
    The IT Crowd
    11.22.63
    (A Stephen King adaptation)
    Dark (From Germany)

I enjoyed The OA, but many people seem to hate it vehemently.

Two good German series on Netflix I haven't seen mentioned: Babylon Berlin (cop/thriller set during Weimar Republic) and The Same Sky (thoughtful spy story set in latter cold war Berlin).

I've been watching Patriot on Amazon Prime, it's pretty good, if a bit slow at times. Offbeat darkish comedy concerning a somewhat hapless CIA agent.

Manhunt: Unabomber is another good series I didn't see mentioned.

Thanks, I'll look at the two German series, see if there's anything there for me. Amazon seems to be popping some more new series in there, as well. I just got over seeing "the best scie-fi-series ever" wrap up...both of them. Expanse a no-brainer; even liked the way they ramped-up the tension in the climax similarly to Interstellar's tension beats. 12 Monkeys, I'm not really sure I followed it as well as I should have - they did put everything into the graphics and characters..."best"? Ummm...I'll stick with, "pretty-good-est"...

Highly recommended, this show is as Bill stated and more.

Two bullseyes there, I would add Rome which was a UK/HBO thing done way back in the nineties.

This show was really out there, in a very good way. This actor who played one of the killers in Utopia was also in the recent AMC show The Terror -he was a lot nicer in that show, the Terror was actually pretty good, a grim imagining of a grim real life story.

What I have learned today: I want to check out that Mad Dogs show, and finally watch Peaky Blinders, I also heard that Babylon Berlin was good.
Danish show Trapped is really good and of course the original danish version of The Bridge called Bron Broen is totally captivating, with excellent writing, actors and cinematography.

Snowfall. I binge watched the first season over the weekend. Second season starts this week.

"Snowfall continues its riveting story about the infancy of the crack cocaine epidemic and its ultimate radical impact on the culture as we know it.

Season two follows our ensemble of characters as they intersect and overlap within the mosaic of Los Angeles as we enter 1984. All of them are working toward their ultimate goals of money, power, and influence...

Power. Seen seasons 1-3 now. One of the best current shows. I’d compare it to Animal Kingdom crossed with The Wire seasons 1, 4&5. They really push the sex scenes to Cinemax levels.

Ballers. Didn’t know realize that one of the main characters is Dezel Washington’s son.

TCM has a great vibe to it, for one thing there are no commercials (other than promotional spots for the brand.) You can have TCM playing like background music and focus on the content as much as you like. There are some great movies on there, but even the lousy stuff is pretty entertaining.:)

They are both HBO series. I've watched very little current TV for the past 2 decades. These 2 are my favorites.
