I got there an hour before the store opened to give you an idea how many people had gone through the store before me. I went to get the White Stripes which was sold out by the time I got to the RSD stuff, but figured I'd go check for the McCartney since I was there. I honestly thought there was no way it would still be there if they got one, but there it was. Definite endorphin rush when I saw it - lol.

I got everything on my list but the Father John Misty single. I really don't like going to this store because he thinks very highly of his inventory, apparently. Every time I go in there I feel like I'm being gouged and today was no different.

    Phish NYE box -- 189.95
    Gregg Allman -- 17.95
    Wu-Tang single -- 29.95
    Junior Wells -- 28.95
    The Doors -- 31.95

Oh well...the store is relatively close to the house and it's RSD.

I was wondering how they were going to handle the labels on these.Didn't know Sony/BMG owned the Pye stuff now. It's OK,but I'll stick with my $15.00 mint Australian Astor original.

I picked up the Robyn Hitchcock/Emma Swift 7" and the OFF! BBC 10". Also picked up a couple $1 CDs, and a promo photo of the mighty Cat Butt.

This morning was an exercise in frustration :(

I wanted the U2 release and knew that one of the local shops only had 1 arrive. I made it to the store at 7:15 and there was only a couple people ahead of me ... alas, one of them wanted the same album ... on to Plan B.

I tried a second smaller store and made it there and was the first to line up ... approx 7:30 AM ... the owner arrived at 8:30 and was gracious enough to ask those of us in line what we were waiting for. The owner said that even though he received an invoice and was charged for the items, he never received the album at all. Strike Two :(

The owners of both stores have been wonderful ... it is not their fault that they are shorted on product. This certainly may end any RSD shopping for me from now on.

I wasn't able to get the Ryan Adams 7".

But 6 hours and 3 stores later, I did get:

White Stripes - Get Behind Me Satan
    The Saints - Eternally Yours
    Willie Nelson - Teatro
Guided By Voices - Isolation Drills
Guided By Voices - Do the Collapse
Hold Steady - Boys and Girls in America
Okkervil River - Wake Up and Sleep Songs

I also bought the LITA Sly Stone's Flower CD -- just 'cause.

I opened and listened to Junior Wells' It's My Life, Baby!, and I see a 'SH' inscribed in the deadwax... @stevehoffman??

Also Chet Atkins' My Brother Sings sounds realllll good. Sundazed mastered and pressed at RTI.

It didn't seem to make its way to Canada, at least not to these parts.

I wonder if it'll be around on web retailers' sites past today?

I'd like to personally and publicly thank my little 21 month old, who didn't whine until we were checking out!

and he even liked the product when we came home to listen to it.
he was sad he couldn't leave with a cassette tape he picked up though.

Listening to Monk right now. Supercool! A friend's ex girlfriend is a professional classical pianist. She can play anything, but is in awe with jazz pianists. She can't grab it to play herself. This record is an example of how different these art forms are. Not many can play both styles expertly. Keith Jarret comes to mind, maybe...

I agree..my store in Hoboken NJ was not that crowded at all, very easy to find most stuff. I only bought the 7" mystery record and a few other things not related RSD.

  21. Got two albums only this year. Basement tapes 200 grams and Basement tapes 180 grams. 200 grams is da bomb. Sounds AWESOME! Very happy I crawled outta bed.

Don't know. Wish I had picked up some stuff that I saw for people here. I saw a lot of stuff that people seem to be looking for, but you never know what's going to be tough to find.

The Basement Tapes record should have been released exactly like it was today back in 68. I, like most bought the super deuxe cd set when it came out but the way the record presents the songs is just right. Listening to it nearly 50 years later brings a tear to my eye.
One of the most satisfying releases in many a year.
