    That would make sense.

I remember a story on Classic Records' release of "Rough Mix". Mike Fremer mentioned they used a photo/scan of his copy (at least the back cover) for theirs, even showing the 'Last' Preservative sticker he placed at the bottom on the back. Sure enough, it's easily seen.

How about that! You can see the image of the little LAST sticker near the bottom center. I wonder how many people notice the difference. The LAST sticker covers the guy with the bicycle---see post below:

What does the "Last" sticker mean? I have a few records that have this.

US buyers it look like the UK restocked. I bought the Bowie picture disc yesterday at Reflex. They had tons of stuff.

It was a record preservative that was applied before playing a new record. You were supplied silver stickers to place on the cover, showing that record was treated. It was supposed to extend the life of your record because Last acted as a surface lubricant, lessening the damage caused by the needle. I used it on many, many records without noticing and damage to the sound.

Trivia: Last was manufactured by the Ball Corporation, makers of home canning supplies; glass jars, lids, etc.

Yes, the 11 songs are wonderful, so I don't overly mind the grainy cover.

  9. Mine is something like 6456/8500. I think they probably pressed 8500 since that what is stamped on the cover. Of course, who knows for sure?

OK, if that's what the stamp says, maybe it's accurate. It's pretty cool that the member here got the final one (#8500).

Anyone else get a pink copy of the Green River 1984 Demos? Mine just arrived in the mail and it's one of the 200! Best part is that it sounds tremendous.

    Correcting myself:

The Ball Corporation manufactured "Sound Guard" Record Preservative, not Last. They both did basically the same thing but Sound Guard had little white stickers with a box to date the treatment.

    Doh!

I think 8500 is the number on the Doors set. I ended up with 782/8500. I just saw another one today so they're out there but 8500 is not a huge number worldwide and if you like the Doors this is one to get ASAP before they disappear at anything that approximates a descent price.

  20. 8500 is a lot. They aren't rare and can be had on ebay any day all day.

You just said eBay and I said at something that approximates a descent price, not rare. As soon as discogs and eBay are the only place to find this you don't get a descent price, unless they repress it.

Lots of records are on discogs for less than list price. Almost all of the limited Dylan RSD items over the years can be found for less than what I originally paid. Not to pile on, but 8,500 is a lot for a Doors piece, I think. Give it some time and prices should drop.

Got my copy on eBay for $62 shipped.
I can live with that price for a QRP Pressed set of this quality.

  24. Mine cost me $59 + tax at the local store on Record Day. They've been selling on eBay recently for $60-$65 with $4 shipping. It's pretty much a wash on the savings. They will go down, not up in price, unless you've got a really low number.
