I'm going to be producing/engineering a cast recording for a musical I'm involved in. We'll be recording in my house (because it's cheaper that way). I do not intend to buy extra mics or equipment so please don't inform me that I should do so. Two or three songs feature the entire ensemble (about 25 people) singing at once. Of course, I intend to record them that way (or more likely divide them up evenly and record them separatly.) I'll be using my digital 8-track machine. I will be using two mic's. An Audix i5 model and a Shure mic that I'm borrowing from a friend (I don't have it with me so I can't give the make and model info). The room I'm using to record is a large TV room with high ceilings and wooden floors. I'm using this room because of it's wonderful natural room echo and it's amount of space. I was thinking of positioning one mic close to the group and one away from the group to "collect" some of the natural reverberations of the room. Anyone have any other ideas???
