I bought a pristine copy of that John Sebastian Live a couple of weeks ago at a used record store in Burbank for eight bucks.
The proprietor said, "I've never seen it before."
    I answered, "Yeah, I bet you haven't."

Ha! I've got three or four copies of it.
I talked to the Hittin' the Note people and they said it will never(!) be reissued.
Every time I see a cheap used one I grab it meaning to gift it or sell it ... they're starting to pile up.
    Wonderful stuff!

Rave 'Til Dawn CD compilation w/Apotheosis "O' Fortuna".

    KMFDM-Naive with "Liebeslied"

Both withdrawn due to a lawsuit regarding Carl Orff samples used.

I noticed this also one day when I was creating a Badfinger playlist. I think Badfinger had an influence on a lot of muscians that wasn't acknowledged.

10000 maniacs in my tribe with Cat Steven's Peace Train. Natalie Pulled it after Cat said something stupid about
Salman Rushdie deserving death for a novel he wrote. I think the book was the Satanic Verses.

I have the Stones one -- wasn't it Lucille Ball who objected?

..ALSO: how about Blonde on Blonde w/Claudia Cardinale? Anyone here?

My brother always tells the story of being in a shop where a guy excitedly bought a "Cop Killer" version while announcing "I'M GONNA BE ABLE TO PUT MY KID THROUGH COLLEGE WITH THIS," even though, yes, there are as many copies with it as without. Last time I saw a "Cop Killer" version in a store I think they wanted all of $15 for it.

That was quite a bit longer than "immediately," but yep, that's a good example of a self-edited album.

I had this and lost in in a splitting-up-the-CD-collection situation with an ex-girlfriend. Still love the Ottorongo track on it ("...so what do you say about the DJ???")

Someone at WEA joked that they would owe Charlton Heston a gold record, as the sales for that title were fading pretty quickly until the campaign against it started. We didn't send any of the original stock back and sold through the last 40 or so in a couple of days.

I found a promo copy, at a Boston CD store, of "Man with No Shadow" by John Wesley Harding. It was eventually released, slightly revised, as "Adam's Apple".

How about records that should have been withdrawn as soon as they were released? I have a lot of those...

I had a copy of the "Grace of My Heart" with the Joni Mitchell vocal, but that was the only promo I ever had to give back.

My dad bought both LP boxes and were among his records he gave to me. They sound awful, but cool to have and for a while were the only copy I had for some of the material.

I remember when it was released and getting airplay and loved it. Was Shocked that it was subsequently withdrawn.

Already mentioned, but I also have "Wish You Were Here" by Badfinger. I got it at a yard sale for about $1. It is in perfect condition.

When Napolean XIV's "They're coming to take me away" hit the charts around June of '66 it got a lot of attention in a hurry. I bought the 45 right away and the lp a couple months later. In my area it stayed in the top 5 slot for a month. And all of a sudden it dropped like a stone regarding chart position. I really don't think it was PULLED per se, but all of a sudden dj's quit playing it altogether. The word I heard was that advocacy groups were getting ready to barnstorm the radio stations en mass in protest of its popularity. And the program directors decided to let it drop off the charts ASAP.

I'm surprised I was able to latch on to a copy of the album two months after the song hit the charts, it doesn't go for super big bucks but it indeed is a rare album. Of all places to buy albums, I got mine from Montgomery Wards (yes, they sold lp's once upon a time.)
