I'm thinking here mostly of censorship. My local rock 'n' roll station edited the word 'Christ' from "The Ballad of John and Yoko" when it came out in 1969. They would not play The Guess Who's "Bus Rider" (Go***mn), Steppenwolf's "The Pusher" (Go***mn), or Lennon's "Working Class Hero" (f***in' and c**k). Not surprisingly, they also excluded Lennon's "Woman is the N***** of the World" from their playlist (did anybody dare play this?). They did, however, play the Stones' "Honky Tonk Women" with its line "I la*d a divorcee in New York City."
