Rega Isis

Has anyone here actually ever hear one of these players? Curious if it really sounds better than the Saturn-r. The r is certainly a fantastic sounding player...

Yes, I had a few listens a few years ago when it came out. I compared the Isis/Osiris (£11,000 UK) with a Naim CD555/552/500 (£50,000+) and concluded that, if I was in the market at that level, I'd sooner buy the Rega and walk out the shop with £40k in my pocket.
I've also heard the Saturn-R a few times but wasn't convinced it was as good as some of the mid-price Naim players (e.g. CDX2). Therefore, though I haven't compared directly, I'd say the Isis was x times better than the Saturn....

 

Short answer....yes, the Isis is better then the Saturn. Of all the cd players I've heard (and that's quite a few), the Isis is easily one of the best. Build quality is off the charts good....it's an extremely impressive player.

 

No one has mentioned whether they're talking about the solid state or the tubed Isis.

 

Anyone has a view of where would the Rega DAC stack up vs. the Rega CD players?

It arrived today. This thing is heavier than most power amps I have owned!

 

Enjoying the Isis. Thing is a tank. Can’t imagine I’ll buy another CD player after having this....

 

Bests the saturn r by a fair bit then?
