Lou Reed - Live In Italy. This one seems to get overlooked among Lou's live albums. Recorded in '83, its his only live album with Robert Quine.

Rod Stewart - Absolutley Live from 1982. It may not be from his most respected period with the faces, but this release showcases a singer and performer on top of his game with an ability to sing a wide variety of material successfully in a single live concert. But, this vote goes to the cassette release which has 2 bonus tracks that the cd doesn't have.

Garden Of Delights seemed to specialise in releasing German radio shows of some decent quality. Are they still extant? I thought they'd sunk a few years ago. Great if they haven't.

Pa Osteraker is just as good, at a time when Cash's studio albums were starting to decline in quality.

I can think of Wipe The Windows, Check The Oils, Dollar Gas by the Allmans, Love You Live by The Rolling Stones, and Jerry Lee Lewis live at the International Hotel, 1970.

I think that pretty much redefined what people thought of the band. I think they had been thought of as mainly a studio band until that was released. Certainly wouldn't have expected something taht sounds like it comes from Detroit a couple of years later from them.
It is pretty heavy with a lot of kick. & the band manages to stretch out sings very successfully. Brilliant.

Tim Buckley Return oF The Starsailor searing stratospheric orgamsic playing. Wish the sound quality was more pristine though, do think the cd I have of it is pretty great.
Dream letter and Live At The Troubadour are also both pretty great.

I always thoughtWipe The Wondows, Check The Oil, Dollar Gas by the Allman Brothers Band was very much overlooked. Yes there is no Duane on it but Chuck Leavell does a fantastic job and it is interesting to hear the differences in arrangements without Duane.

    • Dave Douglas - trumpet
    • Marty Ehrlich - alto sax, clarinet

    • Reggie Nicholson - drums
A fantastic slice of modern progressive jazz, with a great set-list alternating between propulsive burners and contemplative suites.

I don't like any Tim Buckley EXCEPT this. To think that Danny Thompson plays bass without any (I think) prior rehearsal is incredible.

I think Copenhagen Tapes is the same tour and has a Danish bassist put in a similar position and accounting for himself pretty well. So maybe it was just a thing for that tour, wonder where else they went?

I bought a copy of this from Paul at a show he did in Detroit at the Shelter. Love that album, he even gave a couple of bucks off because the case was broken.
