I am not familar with any Association albums so I can't comment on them but this upcoming release caught my attention. Original Album Series - The Association (5CD)
These discs were originally issued on Roulette (& Parlophone in the UK) so I'm not sure when ownership of this music moved to Warner /Rhino but whatever the story this 5CD collection is a excellent value - the cost of the box is cheaper than most of these titles if bought seperately. I like the sound/mastering on all 5 discs too. Original Album Series - Count Basie Orchestra (Roulette/Parlophone)
When Universal bought EMI, some of EMI's labels had to be sold to satisfy regulators. Warner bought them.
I would rather that the regulators required the corporations to reissue all material OR (if not) allow others to do it
Thomas Dolby – Original Album Series Label: Parlophone – 0190295922108 Format: 5 × CD, Album, Reissue Country: Europe Released: 2016
Interesting that "May The Cube Be With You," a bonus track on the original Aliens Ate My Buick CD, appears to be missing from this set.
@robertzombie Here's some added info from my post last month- Out of curiosity I picked up the 2016 Original Album Series box The Golden Age of Wireless-Matches my WG and those in the US that use the edit of 'She Blinded Me With Science' The Flat Earth-Peaks do not match my old US Capitol JAX Gothic-Not Sure, I previously didn't have this Aliens Ate My Buick-Matches my old UK Swindon Astronauts & Heretics-Matches my old US SRC
There's a Dr Feelgood Original Album Series 5CD set available now, check Amazon for details, very inexpensive.
I've had this for several years. It's an odd set of albums, skipping the studio albums Along the Red Ledge and X-Static and Voices. I can understand why they might have skipped Voices--maybe that still sells on its own. But not so much Red Ledge and X-Static. Would have been a nice place to get Beauty on a Back Street, Along the Red Ledge and X-Static--the fair-haired stepchildren in their discography--in one place.
Yup...Thanks for pointing that out. Don't need the Arista album, but I'll find the set cheap and ignore that one...
The Black Oak Arkansas set was my fav. It introduced me to a great great band with whom I had only passing familiarity based on their Cal Jam performance in '73.
Yep Robert, I was happy to see these not remastered. A great way for the new/casual fan to get good sounding discs for an affordable price
I do, I have both the deluxe edition's for the extra's, the bonus Live Wireless DVD on Golden is a hoot
I've got a feeling most of the recordings on these 5 Iron Butterfly albums may not have stood the test of time very well... Original Album Series - Iron Butterfly (5CD) Heavy / In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida / Ball / Live / Metamorphosis *A couple of tracks that have always impressed me over the years - Soul Experience (from the Live album) & the very heavyweight thriller Butterfly Bleu (from Metamorphosis).
Come on Warner/Rhino where are the Smiths and Depeche-Mode OAS sets (with original masterings) we've been waiting for?
