Agree, a true original and a trailblazer. Not to mention a quirky human being. His status in the history of popular music cannot be overstated. R.I.P.

Very sad news. What a legend. A big influence on many guitar players. Probably everyone, whether they know it or not. RIP.

    God, no!

One of the most important musicians of the 20th century. I'm stunned, even though he lived a long life. Rest in Peace.

My goodness, but even then 90 is an age most of his peers never even got close to. R.I.P.

RIP Mr Berry. He devised a signature style which has influenced virtually every rock guitarist ever since, even if they didn't realise it.

This is truly shocking news, despite his age. In many ways, Chuck defined rock and roll more than anyone other individual, and he is still one of the greatest ever rock lyricists.
He has been around since what was basically the beginning of rock, so for him not to be here is very strange and very sad.

    Condolences to his family.

RIP Chuck; you will not be forgotten!

In a couple of short years our musical landscape has dwindled to epic proportions

Sad, but I guess not unexpected. Often referred to as the true father of Rock and Roll,
and in many ways that was true.
Seems to me only Jerry Lee Lewis, Fats Domino and Little Richard are still with us from
the first generation of rock and roll.........

    Oh my God. RIP Chuck.

I just went and picked up his classic album New Juke Box Hits from a record store today. Listening to it right now as I just found out he died. What a drag.

No rock'n'roll without him, at least not in any form we'd recognize now.

I was actually thinking the other day that, in 2017, how amazing it is that he, Jerry Lee Lewis, Fats Domino and Little Richard are still alive.
