I juts watched that for the first time a couple of nights ago. And have re-watched my 2 disk collection of Hail! Hail! (1986).

He was a lot more agile in 1986 than I was at 50 or so!

Really was quite special to watch the service (still up on NBC's FB page) from yesterday. The family speeches were heartfelt and really evened out the hardened image of the man.

Jesus, exactly a year ago, Rolling Stone had a cover price of $4.99 - got the new one with Chuck on the cover and it is now $6.99 while remaining as slim as ever. I guess that lawsuit settlement was kind of pricey.

Maybe. But I think it's more likely that fewer and fewer people buy printed magazines, opting instead for the online edition. And because they are selling fewer physical copies, they have to charge more per issue to cover costs/ make profit.
Around here, the always impending "Death of the CD" is a popular topic. I think magazines will "go" first...

I don't know how many he actually has but I'd go with the Hail! Hail! soundtrack.

Chuck was unlike any other performer. He played with pick up bands supplied by the promoter. Hail! Hail! Rock n Roll has Chuck backed up by a band put together by Keith Richards and features special guests. I'm not sure if there is a definitive official live album. If you can find it there's a good FM broadcast from the Bumbershoot Festival in Seattle in 1980. The best moment is when Chuck thanks the crowd and expresses his fear that they might have forgotten him. Like that could ever happen.

Rock -yes Chuck Berry was rock. Rock -yes Yes was rock.

Chuck Berry, you've just passed. You're influence and your peers' influence was wider than people know. Have we forgotten you so soon?

For a second, I thought Chuck Berry used a then unknown Yes as a pick-up band ( Chuck always used pick-up bands) at one of his UK gigs.....

Nah, it was just a light reference to the other thread that was deleted. Just was making a point that if rock is in progressive rock than it's root was from a music that was heavily integrated at its founding. The progressive part is just the extension of an integrated root (rock).

This is a good one, no info on the CD at all though, it's a 2 disc set and you can pick it up pretty cheap, I seem to recall it's a BBC recording or something, plenty of Chuck chat too.
