Very sad news today. A great talent and an innovator. Musicians and music lovers owe Chuck Berry a debt of gratitude, to say the least.

R.I.P., Mr. Berry.

 

Bye bye Johnny, goodbye Johnny B. Goode.

More than just a legend, Chuck Berry was the inventor. Thanks for giving us everything, Chuck.

 

Things would have been a lot different if not for Chuck. Incalculably different. And you know it wasn't just the Johnny B Good riff and pungently humorous and concise narratives. For instance:

I recall visiting Buddy Guy's old club [Legends] to see Buddy & brother Phil perform, Chuck wrapped up an appearance earlier @ Cubby Bear w/ Johnnie Johnson(piano) and dropped into Legends, but wasn't thrilled with the "Brothers" heckling and prodded Chuck to get on stage to Jam, and refused any Autograph seekers!

My favorite '50s rock and roller. I had a feeling this was coming this year, and when I heard Chuck was planning his first album in decades, I kinda figured he did too. RIP.
