I remember him mainly from the Mel Brooks series When Things Were Rotten back in the 70s. He played Robin Hood.

One night back in 1965, I heard my dad laughing hysterically. He had just tuned in to the first episode of Get Smart. That was topped by the first Hymie the Robot episode. My poor wife has been asked to 'kill the lights' more times than we could count.

Rip! I thought he was pretty amazing in the get smart again tv movie

 

A bit of Hymie trivia: the character was created for Get Smart by C.F. L'Amoreaux, who under the name Gary Clarke played ranch hand Steve on the first two seasons of The Virginian.

As a kid in the '70s, I remember him in the werewolf episode of Kolchak: The Night Stalker. RIP

 

Always loved him on Get Smart.

And 80s kids will know him as the voice of Rodimus Prime on The Transformers.

 

I remember him on talk shows, lots of episodic TV and as Barry Kingsbrook on an Season 4 episode of Charlie's Angels. He tried to kill Kris Munroe!

Here's Gautier playing Batman in a 1973 PSA with Burt Ward and Yvonne Craig. Adam West reportedly turned down this job because at the time he was trying to break out of his Batman typecasting.

I remember that, thought it was pretty funny at the time...

 

Absolutely loved his Hymie character when I was a kid. "Hymie, kill the light." You know (or can imagine) what happens next. I thought that was so funny, I've remembered the bit all these years without seeing it a second time.
