RIP Tab Hunter

Tab Hunter, who rose to fame as a movie star in 1950s Hollywood with his California surfer-boy looks, has died at age 86, according to a Facebook page closely tied to the star.

When the person is 86 who cares?

Maybe, if there's an afterlife, he can get it on with Anthony Perkins, again, and not be judged for it.

That would be a cool heaven.

 

I love him in Polyester.

 

He also had great music success with a pop hit with a cover of the Sonny James country classic "Young Love" (Sonny's version was also a pop hit.

 

The Tab Hunter Confidential documentary from a few years ago was excellent. He came across as an extremely likeable guy.

The first thing I remember seeing him in was "Damn Yankees." He was great in "Polyester."

 

This one gets regular plays from me, probably his best moment song wise.

 

I fondly recall his stint on Mary Hartman, Mary Hartman, temporarily playing Mary’s father (whose looks had changed after falling into a vat of Rustoleum).

 

He was great in Polyester, the only movie filmed in Odorama!

 

I kind of ignored his beach movie stuff, but this one puts him in the Pantheon:
