I thought the curse story was a good short story and I liked the trick ending. But the Limey/Pixie romance, Ma and Pa Roadie tension and the lost band member did nothing for me. Half a good episode. Better than the last one, though.

Made it halfway through this episode & turned it off. Too many things about this show annoy me. The earnest dialog (do people even talk this way?), the one dimensional characters & Luke Wilson, who has a face like an Idaho potato (I stole that line from a review of one of Steve Martin's early movies). Not only do I not like this show, I find it nauseating. I'm out.

This past Sunday's episode (the `Janine' one) was the worst hour yet. I did like the
collector character, though. Lucious......are they for real?!

I burned through the five episodes over the past few days and am surprised to find I enjoy it more than I expected. I've liked every episode except for #4 (the curse), which was just ridiculous.

I'd never heard of them, but yes, apparently so. I liked the acoustic number they did towards the end of the episode.

Took me awhile to figure out that "Janine" was Joy Williams of The Civil Wars. Really good casting there, imo.

I really liked the latest episode. Quite a transition Janine pulled there. Joy Williams did a great job with that part. I also liked the John Mellencamp part. That song he did, "The Longest Days" is one of my favorites of his recent albums.

The Janine story arc is really interesting, many famous muses, girlfriends, wives, groupies, and lovers to think back of in rock n' roll history that this story line could have been modeled on or an amalgamation of them. And how many box set arguments and content speculation takes place here on all bands on SHF that follow the story line with Mike Finger! I am really enjoying this show more and more, and having some stars drop into the stories is both interesting (as agentalbert points out) and plausible given that the roadies work their way like nomads from tour to tour and can't help to at least rub shoulders with the band members. At least that's my romantic view of the profession, and many rock books I have read at least discussed sound engineers working multiple tours during down time between their main band's schedule. From a budget standpoint, it's interesting to note that they are either dressing up each set really well and differently with the signage or they really are filming at these stops on the tour so far. Any articles out there describing the production process anyone has run across?

I wonder what is going to come of the constant references to Wesley not trusting Mike Finger. He doesn't seem to have any bad intentions, but they keep having Wes express distrust of him, so I'm sure something will come of it.

The local color shots around Louisville were actually Louisville, although the cast wasn't in any of them and they probably just sent a crew around to take local color shots. One was of Skyline Chili, which while there is one there is really a Cincinnati thing. Good thing I wasn't on the bus when I said Cincinnati or we'd all be cursed.

Just found out that the actress playing Cassie (Bill's "once a year" girl) in episode #3 is Taylor Marie Frey, daughter of recently deceased Eagle Glenn Frey.

I think the show really came together and hit it's stride with Episode 5. I just finished Ep. 7 and it's remained very strong, glad to see that this series has come together so nicely, I really enjoy my weekly hour with this crew.

Thanks for posting these. I had to back into the episode to find the song I liked when hearing it. Figured out it was "Feeling OK" by Best Coast. Never heard of that group, but I like the song, so I'll check out more from them.
