Acoustic Zeppelin would have worked quite nicely for me. Led Zeppelin 111 is one of my favorite albums. I wonder if just the three of them got together(Page, Plant and Jones) and did an all acoustic album with no drummer; How would that be received?

That is a good question, I think that it would be an interesting idea. I wonder why Page according to him walked away from that? Usually by all accounts it is Plant walking away from anything reunion related so this article it really interesting

I just don't think that Plant wants to tour or record as LED ZEPPELIN.
If Jimmy Page, and John Paul Jones came to him with original acoustic songs, I think he would be game. Page wants to go out there and belt "Rock and Roll" in every city in the world, but Plant doesn't. I would LOOOOOOVE to see LZ live, but really commend Plant's decisions.

Do Jimmy Page and Robert Plant not have each others telephone number, or something?! Why do they continually communicate with each other through the press?? If I want to talk to somebody, I pick up the phone and call them. I wouldn't call a press conference !!

I'm glad Plant is holding out and I hope he keeps holding out. There was a time when a Zep reunion might have worked.....but not now.
But another Page/Plant album would be great....they got to make up for that Walking Into Clarksdale crap

I can only say Robert Plant should have it any way he sees fit that works for him. I can also say that he seems to want it in all the ways that just he wants. As such, I think some folks might see his quotes and actions as admirable, some might see them as selfish? I can only say that if I had not seen LZ live, and I haven't, because I wasn't around too, and if I were still a hardcore fan, I would be continually disappointed that he, Page, and Jones could play all of one full concert together since Bonham's passing. I did see Page/Plant. Kudos to him for that. I kept looking for Jones. Anyway, he's okay to play LZ songs in concert, but just not with Page and Jones. That's the reality of it, to me. Just an observation opinion. I have no stake in it, but I'm glad I'm not 15 or 20 or 30 years old hoping to see the 3 of them in concert, and it not happening, but once, yet it always being there in the background as a possibility. Glad I moved on from that years ago. I've seen Plant solo gigs too. Interesting article though! A little twist. Again, this kind of what if would have been Disappointing as a teenager or 20 something. Just glad I'm not there in that place regarding these guys. Sorry for the lengthy amount of my post. Plant seems to have had it both ways for a long time now and Page seems to have had enough of that? My cent's worth. Peace.

Promo for reissues, RP tickets and the new RP album...

I also think it's a been a game of one-up manship for Robert/Jimmy that's been going on for 30 years.

I remember Much music about a decade ago did a 1 hour special on RP's career. They very cleverly found footage and edited together a few seconds of him saying "It's the best album I've ever made" during interview for every one of his albums 1983-1993. For the Santana special they found clips of Carlos saying "Spiritual orgasm" in 8-10 interviews over a 20 year period.

Maybe it's easier to hide the current state of his guitar chops playing electric over acoustic?

In this interview I also think that Robert seems dissapointed that Jimmy would rather rally for a reunion rather than either writing new Page/Plant songs or just going out and doing his own live shows or new music. "He knows he has got the headlines" meaning everyone would be interested in what Jimmy does but it is disappointing that the only stuff Jimmy puts out are concerts where he plays the old songs and re-releases of decade old albums. Maybe part of that is indeed what Plant is talking about with the expectations being too great that no matter what they do they will never match the pedestal the public has put them on

Any new "Led Zeppelin" album or tour would be endlessly compared with music made by very different people over 30 years ago. I totally support Robert not wanting to get back into that mess.

That said, I wouldn't mind another Page/Plant collaboration.

The three of them doing acoustic material is really the best solution to the no JB situation, as well as being more suited to their place in life then falsetto screams about giving every inch of my Viagra fueled love

He says some nice things about JPJ and Bonham in this interview.

It is interesting why Jimmy walked away from that offer. They certainly were into acoustic music in the early 1970s listening to Crosby Stills Nash and Young as well as Joni Mitchell. Also was Roy Harper an acoustic player? They liked him as well.

At this point Page basically wants to resurrect Led Zeppelin and tour as an 'oldies act', banging out the hits in arenas and stadiums. This is is a complete anathema to Plant, who's more interested in focusing on new music than attempting to recreate the past: "It's just that it meant what it meant when it meant it, and beyond that there was no story, and with John's [Bonham] passing and all that stuff, it was gone. There's no need for it."

I must say, I'm entirely in Plant's camp. I'd love to see Page do some new music. If not as Led Zeppelin, then perhaps a solo album along the lines of Carlos Santana, where different singers contribute vocals. I'm sure Plant would be more than happy to assist.

Oddly, I have always found Page's acoustic playing to be a lot less sloppy for some reason.

It'd be a success, no doubt. I don't see why Page wouldn't do it. I don't see why Plant wouldn't do it, and then agree to a Page/Plant kinda tour with Jones, in the sense of doing folky rearrangements of Zeppelin tunes and so forth. I think these guys, or at least Page I suppose, could have a little more faith in their audience. If Page/Plant/Jones were to hit the stage tomorrow, it'd sell out and be the media event of the year even if they did all songs from Plant's new album and "Thank You" as an encore.

Maybe Page should join Ringo's Allstarr Band. That will give him something to do.

Who knows what the actual truth is. It may be Plant telling the press whatever he thinks they want to hear. The same with Page.

Probably because he's usually sitting when playing acoustic guitar. On electric guitar, at least in concert, he has the guitar slung ridiculously low. Looks cool, but makes it harder to play cleanly IMO.

Good for Plant. Sounds like his head is in the right place. Zep's ship sailed away a long time ago...

Jimmy acted without class with his initial comments about Robert.

Based on the acoustic track included as an extra on the It Might Get Loud documentary release, I would say Jimmy didn't take Robert up on the offer because he has nothing substantial to offer.

I'm more than happy to see Robert doing what he wants, but I can't pretend I wouldn't love to see P, P & JPJ go out there and do an acoustic tour backed by an orchestra. But it's never going to happen.
