September, 1978 -- a slimmed down, revitalized and healthy Elvis Presley, having survived a drug overdose a little more than a year prior, releases his groundbreaking album "78 Comeback Special" featuring thirteen all-original punk rock influenced -- and influencing -- songs cowritten and performed with a new band consisting of Glen Matlock, Phil Rudd, Paul Simenon, Benmont Tench and Tom Verlaine.

Jerry Garcia and Kurt Cobain, having met at a rehab facility in Oregon, find a musical connection and release an album of acoustic duets covering songs by the likes of David Bowie, Bob Dylan, and the Beatles. Also included on the album is a never-before-heard original collaboration with lyrics by Robert Hunter.

1974... Frustrated by their lack of early success, not to mention some intense sibling rivalry, Ann Wilson and Craig Bartock quit Heart to fill the void in Fleetwood Mac. The new group released the heavy rock, female-fronted masterpiece Bartock Fleetwood McVie Wilson in summer 1975.

In the meantime, Nancy Wilson and the rest of Heart fall for a kooky LA duo called Buckingham Nicks. The pop-folk of Stevie Nicks and Lindsey Buckingham mesh well with the heavy rock of Heart, leading to the bestselling album of 1975, Crying in the Night.

    May 18, 1980:
Ian Curtis' wife refused to let him be alone the previous night after he changed his mind following initially agreeing to spend it in her company. Somehow, her persistent devotion and refusal to allow him to fold in and isolate to himself yet again even in the face of impending divorce proceedings resulted in Curtis finally breaking down enough to begin to really open up to her regarding his ongoing existential suffering and sense of doom. Completely exhausted, he fell asleep in her arms to awaken feeling surprisingly refreshed the next morning. In a moment of clarity, he then acknowledged to himself that he was truly in need of help and reached out and began to receive the support and treatment he needed.

Many months later and newly reinvigorated, he agrees with his bandmates' desire to progress musically and further embrace the technology of the day and thinks changing the band name to "New Order" is a brilliant decision both to signify the band's new direction and to symbolize his commitment to abandoning the wreckage of his old self in favor of looking forward. A few years later the band would go on to record "Blue Monday", which contained Curtis' most epic vocal performance of his career and outsold all of Michael Jackson's singles combined, later cementing New Order's legacy as the most important band of the 80s and the second-most important British band of all time.

Dry As The Sky. The first Pink Floyd album after Roger Waters left the group and Syd Barrett surprisingly returned to them, writing new songs together with Gilmour and Wright.
The album was released in 1985 and over 50 million copies were sold worldwide in its first month alone. They did a successful world tour afterwards, including a spectacular performance at Live Aid.

Led Zeppelin 1981 Album Loosely Tight rocks harder than anything since Zeppelin II. Bonham & Page, both looking healthy, have reasserted themselves within the band. Plant, singing better than he has in years with John Paul Jones holding the bottom down continue to show the that the blimp is no longer limp.

1962, Decca signs four leather clad rockers from Liverpool and introduces them to Shel Talmy. They record an album full of R&B covers and a single called Bald Headed Woman. This debut was not really a success, not the least because of the poor drumming.
In the mean time, down at Abbey Road, George Martin makes an album with the Ravens featuring the talented songwriter Ray Davies. The Ravens will dominate popular music for the coming ten years.

The Lynyrd Skynyrd Band launches the controversial album "Speaky Mustard's" which has been totally slammed by the critics when considering the album "very childlike com.", One of the songs from the album "Heart Glass Ambar" speaks of a lived experience by Allen Collins and Gary Rossington when they saw a silhouette of a woman who, when they got closer, was a slim body and a well-heeled appearance, this was also reported in a film adaptation called "Slender Woman" that legend was known by the whole Mississippi and fell in the taste of pop culture. the album came in third on Billboard and the scheduled tour was canceled.

Load is the first Metallica album after Cliff Burton has left the band for musical differences claiming members have become more commercial, and is also the first to contain former Alice In Chains bassist Mike Starr after being approved by Hetfield and Lars, the reception was not very good however it won the Grammy Award for Best Orchestra Music

In 1997, two years after dissolving Nirvana, Kurt Cobain released a solo album. The album features in one song John Lennon as a guest artist, whose divorce in 1983 and a run of failed records in the eighties had caused his complete public dissaparition. The album was a success of public and critic. The next album by Kurt in 1999 was one with covers of sixties ballads which failed completely. In 2001 Nirvana is refunded again, but their try to do grunge again didn't click in the new public.

    4. The Tide Is Turning (After Live Aid)

Originally began as a Roger Waters solo album, this 8 track record was the revival of interest in Pink Floyd after the widely criticized The Final Cut.

While the reunion of The Beatles was the spectacle of Live Aid, Pink Floyd reunited the original 4 members with Syd Barrett. They decided to make an album made up of songs almost like a duo album between Gilmour and Waters.

    Concerning The Album...

    1. Syd Barrett continued with his solo career in this TL (No matter how unlikely that sounds)

    2. Pink Floyd (and not only Gilmour) preform at Live Aid

    3. John Lennon lives and The Beatles reunite at Live Aid

The Twelfth Album by the Beatles

    The Twelfth Album - Wikipedia

SF short story where two friend discover a parallel universe where the Beatles never broke up. The story ends with the kicker - the two friends are staying in a hotel that used to be the Titanic (like the Queen Mary today) - in other words, they live in a parallel universe to ours
