I think the group mimed to a pre recorded track. But it is Iommi.

In his early days, it seemed strange that an angry young punk like Elvis Costello was a fan of Burt Bacharach and George Jones.

When growing up, Warren Zevon spent time with Igor Stravinsky and Robert Craft learning music

Markey Romone play with the NY hard rock band, DUST in the early 70's.
I think he was around 16 years old when started out with Dust.

I do not find this anomalous, or even the least bit surprising.

What I do find quite surprising is the label "angry young punk" being applied to Elvis Costello. Per our friends at Wikipedia, his musical collaborators also include Glenn Tilbrook (Squeeze), Daryl Hall, Annie Lennox, Paul McCartney, Roy Orbison, Aimee Mann, and Tony Bennet. This hardly reads as "punk."

Sure, some of his songs have an angry edge to them, but this is hardly a distinguishing facet of his work. More over, the angry edge usually reflected bitterness at failed romances, one of the most universal lyrical themes in innumerable musical genres.

More fundamentally, in his public presentation Elvis Costello just doesn't fit the punk persona at all.

John Mellencamp secretly donates millions to the Shriners.

In 2003, Sting recorded an as-yet-unreleased album of 'duets' with L. Ron Hubbard.

    Pete Townsend finds needlepoint "relaxing."

Surprisingly, close friends allege that Joni Mitchell has a sense of humor.

Van Morrison and Jerry Lewis are longtime Words With Friends partners yet have never met.

Bob Dylan continually laments the fact that White Castle did away with the Surf n' Turf sandwich.

Neil Young has a deep conviction that his vinyl is "underpriced."

In private, Brian May wears a cape and demands intimates address him as "The Fire God."

    Gino Vannelli has a tail.
