A documentary of JEFFREY LEE PIERCE AND THE GUN CLUB.
Not the best documentary but interesting.

The Canadian Broadcasting Corporation (or someone up there) seems to produce a documentary on Burton Cummings (and ostensibly the Guess Who) every 3-4 years. There's just too much to know! This began back in the 70's with the "Portage and Main" (Winnipeg intersection) doc. One of the better ones: (includes some interesting behind the scenes stuff with one of the early Ringo All Starr bands)

Despite the plugs they get from guys in Metallica and etc. in that movie, I didn't think the documentary was really about how good or bad Anvil was/is, but rather about what it's like to keep pursuing a dream at any cost. Monomania, really. :)

  4. Indeed - which is why I think it'd be an excellent double bill with the rather similar American Movie. :righton:

Hmm. Did they put the stuff about Todd R putting all kinds of nasty crap on the mic stand every night (lithium grease, hot sauce etc) to prank his idiotic 'licking of the mic stand' schtick during his "American Woman" solo spot on the Ringo tour? :)

Turtle Soup on Rhino DVD is fabulous!

Chris DeVoe RIP Vickie Mapes Williams (aka Equipoise)

Yeah, that sounds like the sort of thing Todd would do.

This is two part (two half hour) documentary produced by a local (Winnipeg) TV news station (to give you an idea of the quality). They were very informative to me. I really had no knowledge of The Guess Who other than Randy Bachman.

Watched Kurt Cobain - Montage of Heck
Actually it is a montage of home movies. It has some good insight into where Kurt comes from and perhaps his frame of mind when writing but starts to drag.
As a source of information maybe a 5/10. As an interesting film maybe 5/10.

Filmage: The Story Of Descendents/All was fantastic. I've watched it twice now. It's free to stream if you use Amazon Prime.

I was confused. I had seen this Descendents doc on youtube. But it looks like it is the same thing but the name was not used so it has not been caught out yet.

    Michael Bloomfield Documentary
Not very good and some parts are missing from youtube but otherwise gives an overview on someone who I have been vaguely aware of but never really know much about.

It's more "rock adjacent," but Heavy Metal Parking Lot is pure catnip for me.

I was just watching The House That Ahmet Built, about Atlantic Records. 60 plus years of his involvement in the biz.
