Just for fun, I wanted to do a quick tally to see how our Hall of Fame compares so far with the real Hall of Fame. This is just going through the year 2000 (as far as we've gotten):

Artists the Real Hall inducted (in "Performers" category) by 2000 that we have not yet inducted
Clyde McPhatter, Ricky Nelson, Big Joe Turner, Hank Ballard, Bobby Darin, Platters, LaVern Baker, Jimmy Reed, Bobby "Blue" Bland, Booker T. and the MG's, Ruth Brown, Frankie Lymon & the Teenagers, Duane Eddy, Rod Stewart, Martha and the Vandellas, Gladys Knight & the Pips, Little Willie John, The Shirelles, The Rascals, Mamas and the Papas, Lloyd Price, Gene Vincent, Billy Joel, Del Shannon, Dusty Springfield, Staple Singers, Eric Clapton, Lovin' Spoonful, Moonglows, Bonnie Raitt, James Taylor

(Note: We inducted Booker T. and the MG's in the "Sidemen" category, Big Joe Turner as an Early Influence and Jimmy Reed as an Early Influence)

Artists we have inducted into our Hall of Fame that the Real Hall has never inducted
The Zombies, The Monkees, John Mayall and the Bluesbreakers, Jethro Tull, Captain Beefheart & His Magic Band, King Crimson, Big Star, Roxy Music, T. Rex, Dick Dale, New York Dolls, Gram Parsons, Kraftwerk, MC5, Procol Harum, Judas Priest

(Notes: We inducted Carole King as a performer, they inducted her as as songwriter with Gerry Goffin; We inducted Howlin' Wolf as a performer, they inducted him as an Early Influence.)

Artists we inducted into the Hall of Fame earlier than the Real Hall did
Miles Davis (we inducted 1988, Real Hall inducted 2006)
Moody Blues (we inducted 1991, Real Hall inducted 2018)
Albert King (we inducted 1993, Real Hall inducted 2013)
Deep Purple (we inducted 1994, Real Hall inducted 2016)
Ronettes (we inducted 1995, Real Hall inducted 2007)
Alice Cooper (we inducted 1996, Real Hall inducted 2011)
Black Sabbath (we inducted 1996, Real Hall inducted 2006)
Small Faces/Faces (we inducted 1996, Real Hall inducted 2012)
Stooges (we inducted 1996, Real Hall inducted 2010)
Yes (we inducted 1997, Real Hall inducted 2017)
Genesis (we inducted 1998, Real Hall inducted 2010)
Lou Reed (we inducted 1999, Real Hall inducted 2015)
KISS (we inducted 2000, Real Hall inducted 2014)
Rush (we inducted 2000, Real Hall inducted 2013)

Plus, of course, we have pretty much inducted every major individual who contributed to each band in all eras. This is not the case for the Real Hall. :)

A couple you named were inducted in the Singles Category for what that’s worth.

To my count all but 7 of these have been nominated at least once. The ones that have yet to be nominated are: Rod Stewart, Mamas & the Papas, Billy Joel, Clapton, Lovin' Spoonful, Bonnie Raitt & James Taylor. I'm sure we will see several of these nominated at some point.

A few others on the list like Ricky Nelson & Martha & the Vandellas have been very close to getting in.

Some of the others not too close, and some moved to other categories. Once this moved to sixties and seventies artists, this has made it tough for the earlier artists since this forum is so "Classic Rock" oriented.

These artists are all very worthy of at least being nominated to see what the forum makes of them. I know I personally would vote for at least four of them. I do chuckle at the idea of us inducting Clapton four times. ;)

Right now the Ventures have the last spot, followed closely by Ricky Nelson, Can & Dr. John, all within 3 votes.
