I was just about to say that! That, "Little Diane" and "You're Sixteen" are the first three that always come to mind when I think of this subject.

Speaking of the Temple City Kazoo Orchestra, they also did "Kazoo'd on Classics," which is what you would imagine... a medley of classical melodies played on kazoos. I suspect it was Rhino's response when it was forced to withdraw its 45 of "Hooked On Henny" because K-Tel owned a trademark on the phrase "Hooked On..." when used in conjunction with medleys that had an artificial drum-track beat behind them....

    Re: Right!

And Ace UK issued a mix of "Diane" WITHOUT the kazoo, just in case any of us wondered what it would sound like. Pretty good, but then when the kazoo kicks in you just find yourself screeching like one. Just ain't the same without it:)

Another classic with a kazoo, if I remember correctly:

    "Speedy Gonzales" by Pat Boone

There are enough tunes here for Rhino to issue "Kazoo Rock."

My favourite and it brings back fond memories of their live shows is "Happy Boy" by the Beat Farmers. Country Dick Montana used to invite anyone in the audience who had kazoo to come up on stage during the middle eight and play away. Sometimes you'd have 15 or 20 guys up on there. It was hilarious.

well, can't say I've ever seen a 'kazoo' thread before. :shake:

"The Eggplant That Ate Chicago" by Dr. West's Medicine Show (?) was kazoo saturated.

Also, 'Mungo Jerry' used kazoo on several tracks on their first lp (just bought a used CD recently).

    Let's see....hmmm....well, uhhh...that's about it for my kazoo knowledge.:D

Not exactly a rock song, but how about Queen's "Seaside Rendezvous" off A Night at the Opera?

Good call John--I was going for this one too. Did McCartney use a kazoo on his Unplugged segment? It's been so long since I've watched the tape and listened to the disc--I do not recall if he uses one or not.

The Mothers of Invention's "Freak Out" has two great kazoo songs:
    1. Hungry Freaks Daddy
    2. Who Are The Brain Police

Okay, it's off-topic since it is not rock, but I was just watching the film version of "How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying", and I had forgotten about the little interlude where, while Robert Morse is singing "I Believe in You" to himself in the executive washroom mirror, a chorus of electric shavers (which may in fact be kazoos) take an instrumental solo. Funny stuff. :)

"I LOVE ONIONS" by Susan Christie (Columbia records 1966) -
she was Lou Christie's sister, and while the song isn't quite "rock," it sported the kazoo, and later on, TV ad execs jazzed the song up for the memorable FUNYONS potato chip commercial ("oooh, I love Funyons").
