Ha, as far as unintentional high camp goes, nothing beats Rocky and Apollo running into the sea and splashing water on each other in slow motion...

Half of "R3" exists just so Stallone can show off his physique!

It's not "HD". Resolution doesn't factor in one bit. It's the videotape look. I prefer the film look. Videotape will look different and have a higher framerate.

You're comparing the stylistic choices of a movie made in the 70s with a movie made 40 years later. It's understood it would carry a different look. I had no issues with its look away from the fighting scenes. The look you're referring to is color correction in the cold/gray palette. It's cliché but it carries a certain set of atmospheric qualities which is why color correction is now an essential part of film-making. In contrast, the colorful glitzy fighting scenes showed a look I disapproved of.

Rocky is a classic and all the rest have their own charm for what they are worth.Rocky 3 is explained thru the opening montage and could end there and 4 enters superhero territory with every punch to the head being a knockout punch yet no damage is done.

Rocky is an all-time great film. Rocky II is very strong also.

They drop from there, but have their charms (except V).

The scene with Hogan was based on a very real event, when Muhammad Ali fought a Japanese wrestler (and made a joke of it), and Chuck Wepner was mauled by Andre the Giant (apparently for real).

Yes. The Andre match fits the Rocky III one better in style. But this was the other big boxer vs. wrestler match of the era.

The first is just such a great film, and the ending is perfect. I made it up to 3 or 4, but none of them retained the same spirit, in my opinion.

Am halfway through IV at the moment. When Rocky is driving at night and recalling lots of past moments from the previous films he keeps looking away from the road. Really dangerous.

Muhammad Ali and Chuck Wepner fought each other in a boxing match on March 24, 1975. ... Ali won the fight after he knocked out Wepner in the fifteenth round. The fight is notable for being among the four fights in which Ali was officially knocked down in the ring, and for inspiring the 1976 film Rocky.

I've always liked Rocky II because it seemed like a natural progression from the events of Rocky. I consider Rocky and Rocky II to be a connected pair, and the rest of them individual entities. I enjoyed all of them to some degree.

    1 - Rocky
    2 - Rocky II
    3 - Creed
    4 - Rocky Balboa
    5 - Rocky III
    6 - Rocky IV
    7 - Rocky 5

Like a few others have said, III has its charms and I'm sentimentally attached to it because HBO played it to death in '83. Plus Eye of the Tiger!

V is definitely the worst. It's so depressing how he loses his money and ends up training that jerk (Tommy?)
