Rumours abound on websites for both artists that a joint tour is to be announced this week.. they are both scheduled to appear on Ellen on the 13th.

Not clear whether we are talking two completely separate sets, or whether a few duets would be thrown in. The latter would definitely liven up Stewart's gigs as he has been trundling out the same stuff for a few years now with little variety.

Given that Stewart didn't see fit to rejoin the Faces and split profit five ways, he must really need some fresh angle to shift tickets if he is now willing to share with Stevie... He is on record as saying he will be working hard for the next few years to earn as much as possible before relocating back to the higher tax regime in the UK.

At this point in time you'd have to pay me to go see these two. :hide:

A few years ago my wife and I went to see Rod Stewart, because it was billed as, "ROD STEWART PLAYS THE HITS". There SHOULD have been an "*" after that, because what it ended up being was...

ROD STEWART PLAYS EVERYBODY ELSE'S HITS & A FEW OF HIS OWN"

We were mad as all get out, when Rod starting doing songs like, "Fooled Around And Feel In Love" and Badfinger's, "Day After Day". I mean, what the hell has happened to Rod? Has working that closely with Clive Davis made him an out and out sissy for life?

As for Stevie Nicks, one of the funniest radio bits that I've ever heard, involved a newly remastered Stevie Nicks album, where she was "Digitally remumbled for Stereo inaudibility". Heard here... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R6B6CyZHnZU

The only thing that Stevie can do at this point, that would be welcome, is finally talk Lindsey into releasing that "Buckingham Nicks" CD, once and for all.

Whoever dares to spend (read that, waste), their hard earned money on this duo in concert, isn't spending "hard earned money", if you get my drift? For those that don't get my drift, what I mean is, this show has "people who have way too much money on their hands and buy season tickets to everything", written all over it.

the single worst concert i ever saw was rod stewart.

star lake amphitheater (forget what it's called now) outside pittsburgh, absolutely, positively horrible show, band, vocals, sound, and rod's dancing(sic).

p.s. i read somewhere that they are considering rod stewart to take elton's place at caesars palace during celine dion's down times.

I saw Rod in 1971 when he was still good. No desire at all to see Rod or Stevie these days.

I saw Rod around 2003 or 2004. It was a concert I wasn't even thrilled about attending. I had never seen him before and thought I would give it a go. I thought it was one of the best shows I had ever seen. He played everything it seemed. I would definitly go see both of these if Rod was not playing the Great American Songbook stuff.

I think this is the one I might have seen as mentioned above in 2003 or 2004 at Star Lake in Pittsburgh. If it was...I would totally disagree with you.

Stevie has done some package tours in the past decade. Henley? Isaak? Petty? maybe someone else. Didn't Stewart do a Rod/Santana/Jeff Beck tour in the mid 90's?

Mustve been an "off" night or something. I've seen him 5 or 6 times through the years and have never been disappointed. Of course, the last time I saw him was pre-American Songbook, so I cant speak for his recent concerts...

I'd go see them. They won't be around forever. If it's good then great. If it winds up a train wreck then I can come back here and let you know. I've been listening to both for 30-40 years and would not pass this up.

The last time I saw Rod Stewart was back around 1980/81. He did a decent show and his band was still good at that point. Today, I wouldn't go if someone gave me a ticket.

Stevie Nicks I have seen with Fleetwood Mac several times over the years. But, I would not go see her as a solo act.

These two together - not a chance.

he had a band of young. young kids, who wore bandannas and baggy shorts and were not very good musicians as they made some very noticeable mistakes on song opening and closings.

they kept showing a huge picture of rachel hunter's legs on a screen behind him.

stewart must have grabbed the mike stand and twirled around with it 50 times, and each time every grandma in the audience (and there were a ton of them) screamed with pleasure.

I saw Stewart around '88/'89 when he was touring "Out Of Order". He cancelled due to illness but rescheduled the show a few months later. I remember thinking at the time what a great show he put on for such an old guy. Lots of energy and in great voice. Funny how such things are relative. But I can't imagine what the point would be in seeing him in 2011 unless one is satisfied to pay money simply to see their old heroes still alive and standing.

When I saw him come out and sing "Maggie May" on American Idol last season (or was it the season before?) I was cringing with embarrassment for him. He looked like a dottering old man, nearly tripped over something on the stage, and watching him sing lines like "the morning sun when it hits your face really shows your age" was borderline ridiculous.

As a musician myself, I fully understand the need and desire to continue performing until you no longer can. And as long as there is a receptive audience, why not? And that's not even considering what-may-be financial issues for some of these people.

But at the same time, these aging rockstars are turning into exactly what we all joked might happen 20-30 years ago. Stewart isn't very-far-removed at all from the "South Park" parody of him. I'm starting to feel like my grandmother being excited to go see Jimmy Durante at a Reno casino showroom years ago.

Funny how we see things so differently....both Rod and
Stevie have been here in the last few years and I enjoyed
both concerts immensely. In fact, I saw Rod here twice and
would have gone three times had it not been for a conflict
with our Bluesfest. Sure - he's no longer an artist of
consequence, but for an enjoyable evening out.....

For Rod it is about the money. He could have done a Faces reunion, which would have most likely only commanded sales at "smaller" venues compared to the arenas Rod can still play in. Or he can take a nice big payday from Live Nation or AEG and do a tour with Nicks.

Rod Stewart and Stevie Nicks will come together for the upcoming the Heart and & Soul Tour, a series of North American arena performances scheduled to begin March 20 at the Bank Atlantic Center in Ft. Lauderdale, Fla.

Thirteen dates had been confirmed at press time, including visits to such major-markets as New York, Toronto, Los Angeles, Philadelphia, Chicago, Detroit, Tampa and Montreal. Stewart and Nicks will play hits from their catalogs, as well as new material.

"We haven't begun rehearsals but I can already tell you this, with Stevie on board our audiences are in store for an evening of pure rock 'n' roll music," Stewart said in a news release. "I'm already thinking about which of my old favorites to bring back and vocally, I think we've both begun thinking about which songs might be great fun and well-suited for a duet or two."

Nicks is touring in support of her forthcoming album, "In: Your Dreams," due May 3. And Stewart is coming off of a series of successful concerts, which included sold-out appearances at Las Vegas' Colosseum At Caesars Palace and a 33-date European tour.
