I wouldn’t count on it. I have the PHCR of NSD with the German catalog numbers in the matrix. It is actually the US version. Go figure.

I just found out the PHCR Mob Rules CD has mastered by Gert van Hoeyen on it just like the WG, but you never know. It could be wrong. I'm not going to risk buying it unless I know for sure. :)

Early copies w/ Walpurgis lyrics? Is this a studio track? Am I missing something, or have I simply forgotten something?

Sorry to interrupt, but can someone clarify one thing to me?
Are the albums in The Rules of Hell release (hdtracks, 2013) identical with individual albums (hdtracks, 2014)?

I've read in previous posts that 2014 hdtracks releases has the same source as 2016 cds. Does this also apply to Rules of Hell?
    Thanks in advance.

    Soooo.. they are different remasters?

  8. I am talking about live bootlegs and the 1970 Peel Sessions. The War Pigs/Walpurgis rendition from the latter
is included (under the label 'Basement Tapes') in the following Ozzy compilation:
Ozzy Osbourne - The Ozzman Cometh
Ozzy Osbourne - The Ozzman Cometh

You can check it out here:

I thought you were referring to a greatest hits record. I've had the ozzman cometh for years. Stupid how they re released it minus the 2nd disc.

Thank you. As a fan, I know and have these recordings :) I thought you were talking about a different studio recording...that would have been great news to me ;)

Just bought the deluxe Mob Rules. Only had it on cassette. The live show should be cool. Would love to hear Country Girl live. Such a great song. Not as much accolades as others from the Dio era. I have the song Mob Rules on the Heavy Metal soundtrack but none else. Can't wait to hear it.

  13. From what I heard, the Peel Session is pretty much a studio recording, and the cheering on the broadcast bootleg copies is fake.

Right on the back panel it is mastered for CD by Gert so that's somewhat proof. Hopefully it sounds the same or even better depending on if it's just a straight transfer of Gert's work or has been mucked with a bit prior to repressing.

I'm just afraid they used the US mastering with the WG insert, or something like that.

After what vinyl diehard informed us I'm not surprised. Hopefully it's not the case.

Yes, it was a radio recording...

  20. Exactly. A nice live recording is the following one, starting 5:24:

  21. Those are simply different albums, no? I mean, the 2014 HDtracks are the original 8 Ozzy albums from the 1970ies. 2013 Rules of Hell contains only Dio era albums.

A more meaningful question would be: do the 2013 Rules of Hell HDtracks hi-res files have the same mastering as the 2008 Rules of Hell box set redbook CDs? And the answer again seems to be no. I just ran the album Heaven and Hell from both releases through the Dynamic Range Meter: the 2008 has DR8 (very compressed), and the 2013 has DR13 (very dynamic). I am not sure if possibly the 16/44.1 vs. hi-res difference may cause a difference in dynamic range too, but I do not believe that could explain the whole huge DR8 vs. DR13 difference. I don't have the time to listen now, but the DR test suggests these must be VERY different masterings.

Yes, my question wasn't very clear. I'm aware that The Rules of Hell contains only Dio era albums and also know that has different mastering than Rules of Hell redbook CDs. But on HDtracks there are also available Heaven and Hell and Mob Rules (release date: 2014, sample rates 192-24 and 96-24). So I was curious if these ones are identical (mastering wise) with the ones in The Rules of Hell HDtracks release (2013).

  24. Thanks for clarifying! The 2014 HDtracks hi-res releases of MR and HaH are news to me actually. Good question if they are identical to the 2013 Rules of Hell ones or not. I only have the 2013 Rules of Hell releases. I believe a friend of mine has the 2014 Mob Rules, I will ask him for help. I don't think I know anyone who has the 2014 Heaven and Hell though. Anyone?

Please remind me if I don't get back to you within a week or so.

  25. I just compared my friend's file set of Mob Rules, downloaded as single album (not from the Rules of Hell set) from HDtracks in 2015 (so that's probably the 2014 official download version you referred to), to my HDtracks Rules of Hell 2013 downloads. Slightly different file sizes and file names, but identical sound, number of samples, and even FLAC fingerprints. => No difference. As I mentioned above, I don't have the Heaven and Hell 2014 HDtracks version, but it will will likely be identical too.
