Because if it's the single version, a 'recreation' is not the same as the original. I favour authenticity over any benefits of sound quality.

What makes you say it's not the same as the original?

If it's the same mix as the LP, but faded out early, you are not "re-creating" anything. To dub it from a disc would be ridiculous.

You use a dub of the 45 as guide to remake the fade which was made at the time for it.

What's your point? You are making absolutely no sense.

Yeah it’s surprising to me how good the mono Let It Bleed sounds considering it’s a fold. I dig it.

Totally agree, one of the best surprises for me in the box.

Ok I apologize if this has already been covered but...

Is it just my rig or do the LP and CD versions of this sound completely different?

I notice a lot more high end in the CDs but a more natural "analogy- smoothness" in the LPs. The CDs have a lot more clarity on the top end. But the vinyl sounds more balanced.

Well, isn't that just the basic difference between analog and digital medium? :)

There are lots of modern releases where the cd and vinyl sound very similar. This is one case where it’s almost night and day. At least for me. Anyone else compare vinyl and cd sets? I can’t believe I’m the only one who has both.

I'm planning to buy a mono vinyl boxset (still available on amazon.de)...I consider myself quite a big fan of Stones but I'm missing some of early studio albums in stereo...are those essential to have them in my collection if I have the mono box? Thanks :)

Dave, It just depends on how big of a Stones fan you are. I strongly recommend the mono vinyl box set. I have it and I love it. I think it is worth having the early studio albums just to hear the difference, but start with the mono box set.

Note in terms of "early studio albums", most of the material is *only* available in mono. The main exception is the Chess tracks that are actually fold-downs in mono.

I'm not the biggest fan and I bought the box (Japanese cd edition). Excellent release, I love those mono mixes.

Right. This is true up to Aftermath. Then everything is stereo or mono. Aftermath is better in mono. The others are debatable

I would say the one that is definitely not better in mono is Aftermath. Meh mix, less than meh fidelity.

Guess it’s a matter of choice. I’d say it is. But your mileage will vary

In terms of anything close to objectivity, Mother's Little Helper is a track you could say is superior in mono.

That said, I still prefer listening to the album, including MLH, in stereo.

I think the opposite. The bass cooks on the mono version. Plus the stereo mix is wonky
