I wonder if the Alan Sues Peter Pan peanut butter commercial will be included in the extras?

For that much money it needs to include a Goldie Hawn blow-up doll.

Not sure how dated the show would be to watch.

    Out of my price range.

Might very well be. I watched some Smothers Brothers clips/shows a few years back. I loved that show when I was a kid, but I cringed at some of the jokes as an adult. Lots of plays on words and puns, which were more funny then. I recall one Laugh-In joke: "A lot of people get upset at their mayor occasionally, but in Chicago they get upset with their Mayor Daley."

Dan Rowan said they did jokes specifically for the censors so that some of their other stuff might get through. In one instance, there was a scene where a boat was leaving Hawaii and one character said that it was customary to throw your lei overboard. Rowan (or Martin) then picked up Goldie Hawn and threw her overboard. It would be great if those were included, but I suspect they either weren't filmed or weren't saved.

You see a lot of that type of campy humor now, but not much back then. Perhaps Alan Sues was a bit of a pioneer (though Liberace might say he was campier and infinitely better dressed).

Can you imagine Paul Lynde in that?

Enjoyed the show when it was first on the air, watched it every week. Watched the Smothers Brothers show also, SNL those first few years, In Living Color also.
It just gets to pricey to buy all these and may not watch more than once.

For some reason this joke from Laugh-In always struck me as hilarious as a kid.

If Jo Anne Worley married Admiral Byrd, her name would be Jo Anne Worley-Byrd

My shop teacher in High School in the 70s was constantly extolling the superiority of LAUGH-IN over MONTY PYTHON! That and LOVE, AMERICAN STYLE. I still don't think he knew what the hell he was talking about!

Even with installments, still quite steep!
Yes, even in installments.....pricey. I'll have to think about this one. I had the two volumes on DVD before Katrina. Hell, might still have them. But all six seasons? Interesting.

I have those as well. Maybe just do individual seasons instead of the whole shebang in one go?

There are little bits and pieces missing, like Goldie Hawn getting a cake smushed into her by the IN OUT doors of a restaurant in the Kate Smith episode. It's been a real treat to see this show in the hour long format, and being able to see the rare pilot and sixth seasons. So my excitement for the DVD release is lessened.

I was a big fan of the show. Then after many years I caught some reruns and it just wasn't funny to me. Oh, there were some bits that made me smile, but not enough to make me want copies. Now the Smothers shows were actually historical. Wish I could get all of THEM on DVD or Blue.

Apart from the cool astectic, it's a crap show. I've yet to laugh at anything on it, and believe me, I've tried. But cool for those who want it.
