Steven made the switch to 96kHz in ~2011 for Aqualung.

    This was remixed in 2012.

I was thinking about that album Thursday night, and plan on playing it this weekend as a result.

I was in the neighbourhood of the former recording studio where it was made and had a quick look in the windows:

Majestic Cinema - This is Clapham
Gaumont Clapham in London, GB - Cinema Treasures

The studio was owned by Chris Spedding. This year I got to hear him being interviewed prior to playing a show with his band Sharks, and he talked about recording with the Pistols there - Pistols and former Sharks drummer Paul Cook was in the audience.

Oh, I misrecalled that it was recorded in West London, not sure why I had that in my mind.

Spedding is fantastic, one of the truly great guitarists of the last 50 years :righton:

It was recorded at Majestic, then MIXED at Olympic in Barnes and AIR studios.

Seeing Spedding-with-Sharks shows over the past five years (often scheduled to avoid conflict with Spedding's touring with Bryan Ferry, just to get us vaguely back towards topic) has been one of the great pleasures of my recent years.

Eno pops up regularly at the city's cultural and intellectual events, although I have always been to cool to approach him (and vice versa).

I DID go and see him give a talk at Sadler's Wells theatre, which the interweb tells me was a quarter of a century ago:

I'm in if it's better than the remastered edition that's been around for so long.

Unfortunately it is the same 1999 mastering by all accounts

Considering the Queen News Of The World 3 CD and DVD set is being sold for £110, I'm not surprised that the RRP of the Roxy set is £130 for a 5 disc set (though thr price is still too high IMO).

I have, however, pre-ordered via Amazon Canada at a more acceptable sub £100 price.

All in all no need for this box. We have a better master of the labum already. The BBC sessions are all on bootleg and 'of interest' but they're not repeat plays on my system.

The only thing I want is the demos and the RM 1st album outtakes. I'd rather buy downloads to get that stuff.

People also did it for the VU Loaded remix.

Missing out the original mix of that track is insane. It's very good and must be plenty of room for it. But we have a pretty good CD version of the first two b-sides already, don't we?

I already have the better mastering of the cd and the vinyl, as I’m sure many do. I’m in it for the extras. As for the 5.1, I’ve heard many great sounding surround mixes done on DTS. We would all prefer DVDA or BDA, but the mix is more important. Being a Steven Wilson mix I’m sure it will be great.

For this amount of money must be lossless, period. And throw in all existing mixes.
Knowing for a long time that Steve Wilson did mixes, I fully expected a set similar to Yes and King Crimson releases, not this half-a$$ overpriced ****.

as brazen as these cash-grabs have become, I still have to admire the staggering effrontery in advertising a nearly 20-year old remaster with a $174 sticker price.
