Oh no. That's very sad news and a real shame.

    RIP Roy.

Confirmed on the Flamin' Groovies' Facebook page.

Terrible news. He had an accident as he was about to fly to Europe for a Groovies tour and the band had to do the tour without him. I'm not sure if this is a result of his accident, but I don't recall hearing anything about him since it happened. RIP.

Teenage Head lp is his masterpiece. This is what the Stones Sticky Fingers should have sounded like. Hopefully he's singing 'Evil Hearted Ada' with the King in his new happy place :) Wish he would have stayed with the Groovies a little longer during their UA tenure when they became white hot. Alltime favorite RL vocals are Teenage Head and Can't Explain. Gonna miss him. RIP

    Damn.

    RIP to the master.

Extra-morbid note: Wish he had stuck around to record "Slow Death" with the Groovies--it was an all-time great 45 in the making.

This sucks. Got to see him a bunch of times, including four or five times with Cyril from 2009-2012, the Longshots, etc.

Oh no. Glad I finally got to see Roy & Cyril together last May. I saw Roy a bunch w/Phantom Movers. Was in the fan club, Roy laughed when he saw me wearin’ the T-shirt much later on when I met him. Did he make it to the Wilhelm tribute in October? Guess he’s the first of the original Groovies to pass.

Flamingo has some great cuts for sure like Texas Border. I rate Teenage Head because the Groovies take on the Stones and show them how it's done.

Very sad news. Roy Loney, the original singer of the legendary Flamin' Groovies has died. Only minutes ago. Roy was a great talent, as a songwriter and performer, and a great friend. He was hospitalized last week, and I spoke to him Wednesday. He was in good spirits. He had a surgery this morning and never came out of it. Sorry, I have no other details. Roy will surely be missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him.."

Oh no. I used to frequent a tiny record store in San Francisco called Jack's Records. I went several times before I realized the guy behind the counter much of the time was Roy Loney.
