The store I usually start out at for RSD had a line going around the block (with people having camped out since 10 p.m. Friday night), so I hit the 50 cent record parking lot sale instead. The records ranged from playable but noisy to NM...but all very serviceable, especially considering the total price of $25!

Keep in mind that this is all in Canadian dollars:
    Animals - $14.99
    Ramones - $16.99
    Chvrches - $21.99
    Doors - $27.99
Half Japanese - $79.99 (so happy to find it in Canada - I asked the owner if I could take the copy from his window display as I didn't see any other copies)
    Grant Hart - $29.99
    Husker Du - $21.99
    July - $16.99
    Pagans - $21.99
    Pogues w/Joe Strummer - $29.99
    Tame Impalas - $16.99
    Velvet Underground - $19.99
    Yardbirds - $21.99

I am still looking for the Dinosaur Jr box set, Armand Schaubroeck Steals (that one might prove difficult), Wayne Kramer (mainly because he autographed all copies), Randy Newman, Sun Ra and the Zombies (x2).

Finally did the Deep Purple issue come out? I don't recall anyone saying that they picked up a copy.
Also for the folks in the UK, did the Neil Young Cow Palace issue come out? Again, I don't recall anyone saying whether they got this one.

Just a quick glance, but it looks like you paid $5 over on a lot of your titles, so I'd say you spent about $125 more than you should have. Ouch. Hey, you asked me to do the math!
I paid $12 for the DBT. $19 for the VU. $21 for the Jaco.

But you know, $ really didn't make a difference. I was so happy to have the titles in my hand, I didn't even look at prices until I got back out to the car. I played in exactly how they wanted me to play in. Just happy Papa Jazz is very reputable. I didn't want to pay $70 for that CRB boxset, and never had the opportunity to do so, but that quandary for solved for me when it's on Amazon for $400.

  11. No fine print about record store day. Only that you could not combine with other promotions. I g0t the 15% off of around $350. .

Vinyl should be considerably higher,at least it was when vinyl was the standard. But,yeah, take in account things like the "freebies",extra help(which can produce mixed results),entertainment, food, the hours need to plan and execute(I suspect more than a few shop owners worked some 18+hour days this past week) and just the idea that maybe your business is stable for a couple of months. And that is when to come back and spend a few bucks you might have spent online.

Those RSD titles slated for future release are usually put into the "RSD first"pile on the official list(titles like the Aerosmith reissues). The Doors item was placed in the "RSD Exclusive"list. Now maybe the "amber vinyl" qualifies as the "exclusive" part, but I suspect it is a once and done title.

Yeah my little Indie has to use a distributor that charges a little more then the store has to get theirs. I don't mind because I live in the middle of nowhere. The next closest store is 8 hours away. Just happy my guys are still in business.

For RSD only titles from Saturday, all we spent was:

    Green Day Demolicious: $18.99 CD

The rest we picked up were used titles, spending overall $42.00 or so in the trip. That included a couple of well-played but still in nice shape copies of Revolver and Sgt. Pepper for $3.00 each, Buddy Holly For The First Time Anywhere (which I didn't have on vinyl) for $4.00, for my dad we found a Burl Ives LP where he sings Boy Scout songs for $6.00, Nirvana Unplugged for $3.00 and a 1964 or 1965 Capitol LP, This is Where it All Started (or something similar in title), which featured a few Liverpool groups for $3.00 or $4.00.

There wasn't a ton that I was super-excited about, and most stores were out of what I was going to buy. Fortunately I loaded up on some SWEET used vinyl. I made out with just over $200 spent after visiting 6 different stores.

  24. In NZ dollars and including freight to get from one end of the country to the other

Alvin Bros- Songs from Common ground $47
Le De Das- $30 very pleased to get this NZ exclusive. Big fan of the band in the 60s and their original lps are pretty pricey now.

Just need to get a copy of the Songs Ohia boxset and I'll be set- hoping that Secretly Canadian will reissue this in some form soon as the Ebay prices are way more than I'm prepared to pay.
