I agree with you. I have sent a message to facebook Rush Backstage as well as Contact Us - Rush Backstage Club U.S. asking for a bluray only. I think if enough fans would ask for it, they will listen. At very least they could have given a 3 cd/bluray option or something like that. They did give LP lovers a LP only set for this release. peter
I believe A Farewell To Kings was one of the DVD-As from the Sector sets, and it is already one of the standalone Blu-ray Pure Audio discs, but this Blu-ray will have a new mix by Steven Wilson.
Have been waiting for this as I'm not a fan of the albums that predate it but this is essential , next up Hemispheres!
I really don’t care about the new stuff with this album. I just wanted to say this is probably my favorite Rush album of them all. So great. That is all.
Everything about this set sounds great...except for the cover versions by other bands. Who is the idiot that thought that was a great idea...again? Why would fans of Rush buy a Rush album to hear other bands play their music? A truly dumb idea. If there has to be extra music to pad it out, let it be played by Rush themselves.
I don't want 4 LP's and pay $150 to get the Blu-ray Audio disc... that's not how you treat fans!!! So they can keep this, I'm not getting any version...
Count me in as wanting a Yes/XTC style CD/Bluray or standalone bluray. The existence of the previous standalone bluray may complicate things, sadly.
I am really hoping for a Blu-ray stand-alone release (or a BR/CD release). Very happy to see Mr. Wilson's talents finally being used by Rush as I was never very happy with the other 5.1 Rush releases. I am really hoping Hemispheres and Permanent Waves gets the 5.1 treatment from Wilson (though I heard the P Waves masters were missing). I think those two albums in particular would be the best to show off Rush in 5.1.
Exactly. That's a big turn-off. I have zero interest in other bands covering Rush. Can't believe they don't have anything in the vaults.
I hate to be a complainer, but why not a Steven Wilson 5.1 mix of 2112? I understand that the 5.1 mix from a few years ago wasn't that good, and there wasn't one with the last deluxe edition.
I love this album, and have been waiting for a deluxe set, but my god that artwork is awful...Not just the cover, but the labels. Why not just replicate the original?
Good idea. I just sent a note myself to this effect. The existing Blu-ray with the Sector Two mixes is a problem, but I'll pay for the better mix and the mastering (just not $150 more for superfluous duplicated material)
Hmmm...on the fence on this one. I have the 2017 campaign vinyl reissue - pretty awesome sounding, imo.
Seriously, is Universal unaware of the number of unsold, sealed 2112 sets being sold for a pittance on ebay? These $8 versions have actually gone up. I got one a few months ago for $3.99 shipped. The CD version anyway. I know vinyl is another matter. This is neither here nor there, but I always felt that Farewell to Kings and Hemispheres were one double-album that got split up into two separate releases.
Mixed thoughts on this one. I know it's going to sound good so I may not wait 9 months to get it like I did 2112. Full concert is great too. While I love Hugh Syme's analog work, I think his work in digital media is kind of hit or miss and even derivative. I really don't understand why these Rush deluxe editions need to be redesigned anyway. Why mess with iconic originals. The Rush track record of releases has been kind of dodgy since Ole bought the rights. The shift is palpable
Holy chit! If mixed and mastered well, I’m sooo in! A Farewell To Kings is my favorite Rush album, I’ve been clamoring for the complete Hammersmith performance since 1998, the day I picked up Different Stages upon release.
