SACD is great for the 5-10 people who have it.

Interesting article about the new Stones SACD's in September's STEREOPHILE written by Robert Baird.

He quotes Jody Klein, VP of ABKCO Records. He mentions "SACD's are great for the 5 to 10 people who have this technology".


That's how many people feel in the music business. That the selling point of the Stones cds is the remastered part. It's a shame most people may never hear how great they sound as SACD's.

Also mentions in the article that their are "unreleased recordings" by the Rolling Stones. "Our philosophy is that the released versions are the versions that they approved, and they are what we continue to sell and release".
"In other words: as long as Mick and Keith are breathing, no unreleased Stones material will appear."

And that is a shame.
