Does anyone manufacture an SACD player with pitch control? Thanks.

I can't give you a definite answer Paul, but why would you want it?

I've never seen a CDP with pitch control so I highly doubt they would have it for SACD.

Some early Technics CDPs had pitch controls, presumably so guitarists wouldn't have to keep retuning.;) The professional console Technics models I used in my FM-jock job in the late 80's also had pitch controls as I remember. I'm not sure why.

Denon and Marantz offered CD players with pitch control. Some of these are used in dance halls and fitness centers. You may to check their sites for pitch control SACD playback, but my feeling is that with mp3 being the music source of choice these days, there probably are no pitch control SACD players.

How the heck do you change pitch on a CD player? Bits is bits, no?

...maybe by adjusting the sampling frequency? Ah no, this would only change speed, or?

I used to have a Denon CD player with pitch control, and currently have a JVC player/recorded with pitch control. I have no idea how the pitch is actually altered, but it can be altered on the JVC by nearly one and one-quarter tone (12%) either way.

I always assumed they used a buffer, but I actually don't know how such cd players work.

I think they (the DJ CD players anyway) just alter playback speed...like the direct drive turntables, so you can match beats in dance mixes. Doing an actual pitch change without modifying the tempo takes a lot of processing power to sound right.

I used to have a Denon that had pitch control, which was great for adjusting off speed boot CD's.

There were playback devices that had a circuit that would cut out parts of speech so as to allow faster playback without shifting the frequency of the playback.

I have consumer Technics 5 disc changer with a pitch control. They have been around for well over a decade.
