Sandy Denny died 21st April 1978

Forty years ago today. RIP. Play a record in her memory.

 

I would suggest Quiet Joys of Brotherhood from the Sandy album.

Beautiful vocal(s) from Sandy and the lament from Swarbrick at the end might just be my favourite musical piece from him. He held Sandy in such high regard and this piece says so without him saying a word.

 

Percy’s Song is such a high water mark. What a talent.

Great performance...unbelievable there is so little performances of her.

Rest in peace Sandy. You are forever young.

I remember hearing the news on the radio. It was the same day that Bob Dylan's stint at Earl's Court was announced. Bitter sweet.

I was lucky enough to see her live several times. Sandy was the greatest voice these isles have ever produced.

I saw her drinking in a pub in Wimbledon with Trevor one time but alas I did not have the courage to say hello.

The purity of that voice and still there is so much passion in it.
