This has one of my favorite jokes of theirs, where the head evil alien is telling his underling running the visual scanner what to look for to find Santa Claus and says something like "I'm looking for a man wearing a red velvet suit with a fur collar and black boots". Crow (I think it is) then replies "You just described Huggy Bear".

I do not think this is the greatest movie ever made because it really isn't, I enjoy it for the "so bad it's good" deal.

One can actually find the real honest-to-goodness soundtrack version of the theme song on an LP that was issued on the GOLDEN RECORD label. AMAZING to hear it in full fidelity!

I like the punk cover of the theme song, performed by Sloppy Seconds, found here:

  11. In England around 84 we had a new channel start up called Channel 4. One of the first programs was one presented by Michael Medved called the ten worst films of all time and I think this was in the top ten. The series went on for ten weeks and was presented to a live audience in a kind of film school way, except there were loads of laughs. I liked Medved's delivery.

    others were
    plan nine from outer space
    wild women of wongo
    godzilla versus smog monster
man with two heads - one with ray milland in

    I can't recall anymore

  12. Are we getting politically correct with martians now too?

I saw it when it was current. I remember very little other than the names Bomar and Girmar.

Clearly a case where a sequel might've been justified. (Move over Barbarella.)

We just watched the Mystery Science Theater 3000 version of this "classic" last night. We have the Cinematic Titanic version also. I think that the CT folks got a better print that they used in the MST3K days.

But the MST3K edition with the bots has some classic stuff from the Satellite of Love. Like when they asked Crow what he wants for Christmas & he replies: "I want to get to decide who lives & who dies!" Their It's A Patrick Swayze Christmas" carol was funny too!

I honestly think it needs the riffing, so I have just one word: lentils.
