I just watched James' review of that a few days ago, and.. .what a weird movie! :)

I would buy Santa Claus and the Easter Bunny on DVD without the rifftrax. The only DVD available has the Rifftrax.

Christmas Eve 2002 or 2003 I saw this for the first time while flipping channels. I had to stop and watch.

Believe it or not, it was released to theaters this holiday season with a 45-minute pre-show:

Judging from the trailer on YouTube the print on this release is no better than the usual PD source. The stuff on the pre-show looks far more interesting to me!

My memory is that it looked horrible, cheap, and ridiculous even in the theater in 1964.

The Wikipedia entry has a very interesting tidbit:

It has been named one of the worst films ever. A remake has been rumored since 2000 with David Zucker as producer and Jim Carrey attached to play Dropo, though it is currently believed to be in development hell. (!!!)

I wish i had known about this a couple weeks ago. I'd love to see this clunker on the big screen, The Fleischer cartoon and the TV spots are the real gems of this little show. Maybe they'll do it again next year.

What exactly is the point of Blu Ray on this thing? Short of getting the original elements out of a collectors hands, I don't see it.

I agree with you, Jamie. I will stick with what I have. The glitches to me add to the low budget feel of the movie.

Looked at the beginning of the youtube link of the film, and noticed two things. the credits misspell "Costumes" as "Custumes" and the man responsible was "Ramsey Mostoller"...who did the wardrobe for "Dark Shadows."

"Custumes"...must have been the same optical firm who did the titles for "Rat Pfink A Boo Boo."

The Italian height-challenged cast terrified me when I was 8.

Even worst, I remembered being dropped off to see "The Secret of Magic Island." Does anyone remember that one? Even in 1st grade I knew it was lousy. A bunch of rabbits were the stars, as I remember.
